A Little Bbq Joint

I visited A Little BBQ Joint for a happy hour and hope to go back soon for a full meal. The pork belly and pretzels were absolutely delicious. I would go back for the pork belly alone. The wait staff was very busy, but also friendly and helpful. For how busy they were, it really didn’t take long to get our food or drinks. The atmosphere was laid back and casual. The brick building is really cute and much nicer than most of the buildings in the neighborhood. The outdoor seating was ample and covered. The only drawback was the presence of smokers on the patio area. There were ash trays on the table, so smoking in the outdoor area wasn’t discouraged. As a non-smoker, I appreciate smoke far away from my table. They were really packed for a 4pm on Tuesday, but their employees clearly kept up with keeping everything clean. I was especially impressed with the cleanliness of the restrooms.

Wow. Real Kansas City take on burnt ends! This is exactly the type of friendly, tasty local BBQ joint you want to eat at while in Kansas City. Sure, there are a lot of mainstream stops in this part of the world but why not experience something special. The staff was very friendly and the food came out quickly was hot and portioned generously. One note - ask for the Hot Mistress BBQ sauce. It’s delicious and infused with ghost pepper oil. This sauce adds some nice heat to the food.

Walked in this place and was nothing but good food, courtesy from start to finish. It looked like an old gas station and very nostalgic. We would definitely come back again. Oh and the burnt ends....so delicious and tender, the ribs like you have never seen. Everyone was very polite and we didn't have to want for anything. So glad we came to visit.

This place has some good BBQ, just a unique small one of a kind place. Friendly staff and decorated with some cool stuff. The owner came by before we left and visited with us and thanked us for coming. Their sides were good and homemade, different from your basic sides. The macaroni and cheese had a little bacon in it which gave it great flavor. The coleslaw was kind of dry with vinegar, not your standard creamy. It was ok, my husband really enjoyed it. There were 3 kinds of sauce on the table, we weren't loving their sauces either, just ok.

We have enjoyed this place a number of times since soon after they opened. I usually don’t put much sauce on it, as it is great the way it comes. However, yesterday the meat was different. I could taste no smoke and no rub. It was essentially roast beef and roast pork ribs, not kc barbecue at all. I mentioned this to the server and she said she would pass it along to the kitchen, but I didn’t hear any more about it. If this represents a change in their process, I won’t go back. Maybe someone forgot some steps? The sides were still great - spicy slaw and hot potato salad.my wife got fries, which were also delicious.
