Scratch Restaurant

My wife and I have gone in twice on Saturday mornings. Never had to wait long for a seat and never had to wait long for fantastic food. I'm in love with their sausage gravy and biscuits. The compassion burrito donates money to child hunger causes and the omelet will definitely fill you up. If you're looking for good homemade biscuits and gravy, make sure to stop by! They make the food from scratch (did the name give you a clue?) and the service is great. Wonderful place in Independence!

Was visiting Ohio for a couple of days and found this cute restaurant. The name Scratch is very catchy, so we decided to check it out! They’ve got a private parking lot, which is always a plus! This is where you go for a hometown meal. Place has a nice vibe. Some stuff in the menu were familiar and some were not which I loved. The restaurant makes their sausage from scratch, the bacon was oh so good! Was thick and juicy and cooked just right. I order a classic breakfast that came with the bacon, it was delicious! And Tiramisu Pancake came with their homemade sausage. Not going to lie I was not a fan of that sausage but, you might like it so don’t dismiss it ;). The service was nice. The lady serving us looked like she was the owner but she was friendly. Ask her for recommendations on what to order and she’ll tell you what’s what :).

Flavor is excellent. Chef and kitchen team are great. Portion size more than adequate. But the wait staff asked what flavor toast we wanted and didn't tell us that toast was an additional charge to the meal. Why ask us what flavor toast we wanted if toast didn't come with our meals? Had she asked us if we were willing to pay extra, we probably would have. Not informing us of the charge felt like they were being potentially misleading to increase their profits. We reduced our tip accordingly and crossed another great breakfast place off our list.

I've been wanting to try Scratch for a while now. Finally had the chance Saturday. Wow! I'm sad that I've been missing out all this time! It was rather busy & being in the service industry myself, manager & server, I was Very happy w/ our experience. The food was delicious & came out in a timely manner. Kudos to the kitchen! Melissa, our server didn't miss a beat! Friendly, informative, accommodating, patient w/ our kiddos. Which is hard to find in today's world. She Really helped to make our first visit top notch & we'll definitely be back!

Visiting from Texas I was craving a good local breakfast spot... This place is a fantastic local place! The bread pudding French toast with Moonshine infused blueberry toping was not only unique it was packed with flavor. The sausage was also fresh and appeared to be locally produced product. Friendly service, fast coffee refills and a cozy small restaurant atmosphere make this place a winner! With a shortage of non-chain restaurants in the area this is a hidden gem. I highly recommend it.

Ordered to-go a quick breakfast since we saw all the great reviews. We got the scratch salad with chicken (no salmon that day :-( ), and the four egg omelette. The salad had wilted slimy greens in there with what looked like packaged shredded cheese, and the omelette was hard and overcooked. Both lacked seasoning, and our salad didn't have any dressing included. Was expecting more since these items are pretty simple to make and hard to mess up.
