The Valkyrie Wine Tavern

Afternoon fellow adventure seekers of Oregon! I had the pleasure of visiting with "Savannah", the owner of The Valkyrie Wine Tavern in Independence, Oregon. What a gorgeous place filled with great nostalgia and a delicious variety of wines for every special event in life. Savannah is not just another pretty face, but a passionate woman about her love for quality wines. I don't know the correct terminology of wine components, but Savannah sure does ( all I know is I like to drink red wine!) 🤣 I sampled three wines; a French Rose, Chardonnay, and a Red. Savannah's descriptions for each we're amazing and educational. I was mesmerized by the French Provence rose bouquet to the peppery prickly pear of Baden Germany only to fall in love all over again with a velvety red wine from Argentina. 🥰 Mask required, public restrooms available for customers, cash & plastic accepted for purchases. Hours of operation vary due to the COVID pandemic check website for the current scheduled times.

No longer a restaurant. Amazing free wine tasting experience Friday and Saturday 12-8. Beautiful international selection. Sales by the glass or bottle on site or bottle retail sales. The owner Savannah will take the time to help you explore wines and find those personal favorites. An every Saturday stop for me and my bestie!

With an ever-changing menu, somehow the food never disappoints! It's tavern style cuisine, often with a New Orleans influence from their talented chef. I don't usually order reuben sandwiches, but I gave it a try on this last visit and wow! Wish the whole menu was small plates to share, everything is so good.They also have a large selection of wine, beer, and liquor with plenty of open space to bring a large party or maybe host an event. If you're looking for a tasty dinner or a place that stays open late, definitely visit the Valkyrie. p.s. This is the place to go! It's all in the name, with the cozy relaxed or sometimes exciting ambience of a tavern and a selection of fantastic wines that goes on and on. The owner is fun, quirky, knowledgeable and friendly to all and the foods are wondeful and diverse. You will not be disappointed in your experience.

The co owner greeted us warmly and explained the ordering process. Since we were the only patrons at 5:30, we chose to sit, and she waited on us. It's a large space, with a few different size tables spaced well apart, which felt vacuous. A few strategically placed screens would lend a more inviting atmosphere. The service was great, the beet salad delicious. We also shared the halibut which was okay, not very flavorful. The sides weren't exciting either; rice and zucchini. We shared a wine flight, and enjoyed the selections made for us. It was a pleasant experience, although overpriced. We don't plan on returning, but wish the owners success!
