Tao Bistro

After a hike, we were hungry and wanted to grab some lunch. We saw this on yelp and decided to try this out. It is super hidden and I feel like I passed by it so many times and never notice it. The sign is not visible and it's right at a corner in the plaza coverere by trees... Anyways, we decided to get the smoked duck hot pot, the tofu with various veggies and the beef bun. Everything was ready pretty fast. The smoked duck hot pot had really good flavoring. I love the soup. The duck could have been more tender though and I'm a little surprise that there was noodle in there as it wasn't describe as it also came with rice, which I think is a little too much. The tofu with assorted veggies was 90% tofu and 10% veggies. The dish was good though but we were expecting more veggies. I also like the tofu as it was the firm tofu but it was soft on the inside. The bun was good as well. I definitely like the bun as it was sturdy. The beef inside was ok. Overall, pricing was good and food was decent. Service was fast as well.

We pulled this place out of a hat for our Friday night takeout and I’m so glad we did! They have the best mapo tofu I’ve ever had! Rich and savory and bursting with ginger. Their homemade dumplings are phenomenal! My husband says their congee is better than his mom’s (don’t tell her that). The crispy tofu is a great appetizer or snack and the garlic sauce that comes with it is outstanding. This is some of the best Taiwanese food we’ve ever had. It doesn’t hurt that the woman at the counter is delightful.
