Tonito's Market & Taqueria

We stopped coming here for the longest time because the quality seriously dipped, and they stopped making barbacoa. We used to grab takeout every Friday night. About six months ago we decided to give it another shot. Bang! So good, despite not having our fav protein anymore. We typically come in Friday or Saturday evenings. Recently, our schedules have changed and the last three times, we have been in before the night shift guys come in (our favs!). Day shift staff is rude, not friendly. And appears to be lazy as hell. I can’t believe we just waited in the restaurant for five minutes without being acknowledged. What’s worse is that there was an employee sitting in the restaurant, watching us wait. Ironically, the same employee we had issues with the previous visit. After quite a few awkward moments, a lady finally came out of the back to take our order. I will stop coming here and give my money to the other small businesses downtown who have consistent staff and impeccable food every time. I certainly will not be back to grab takeout anytime before the night shift guys come in.

Didn't have time to take a picture. But second time here and I gotta admit it's fantastic ! Iv had the full nachos and could barely touch it the first time. This time playing it smart I got the half loaded papa's the loaded frys basically, added strak and rice and cheese with a few other toppings and it was delicious. The night time staff is great and pay great attention to details for you . It's a great stop

Oh how the mighty have fallen. This was my favorite mexican restaurant of all time back when they were on Ganson. The food was amazing, the service was great, i had ZERO complaints. When they moved to the west side of town the food took a hit, nowhere near as good, and the service suffered. Rinse and repeat with every location they added. To their credit, the chop house was pretty tasty, but after reading their healthcode violations i couldnt stomach it anymore. Its been 4 years since i set foot in one of their restaurants, today i tried out the burrito bar again to see if it has improved... it was nice to see the guy behind the counter was the same amazing waiter from the Ganson days, but the food hasnt improved since the hiatus. Truly disappointed 😞

“Excellent Burritos! Some of the best I’ve had in Jackson. Their fresh made tortillas are incredible and the authentic service is great. This, along with the prime location, and to-go options makes finding a place to eat in downtown Jackson an easy choice.” The above was my original 5 star review. Since then this store has repeatedly raised prices while slowly lowering quality of both food and service. I understand the need for increasing prices in the face of rising operating costs, but the amount they’ve increased takes them from a casual reasonably priced burrito bar to rivaling if not exceeding prices of sit down restaurants. Recently they’ve also chosen to add some new young people to the team, who seem very unaware of how to do their job. I feel like being able to fold a burrito properly should be something burrito bar workers can do at least adequately. Perhaps the most distasteful thing is that after the poor service and high price, their payment system asks for a tip. I still mostly enjoy the taste of the food, but unfortunately my visits here will be very infrequent until such a time they can lower prices and/or improve their service.

MUST GO! I never got around to stopping here but this was so delicious and the ladies, we're so sweet and made me the most EPIC Burrito. I was in Jackson to visit one of my friend and he suggested this place for dinner. This place is in downtown jackson and there is plenty of parking everywhere. We wanted to get a burrito but, they were out of tortilla so we ended up getting a burrito bowl. We got chicken as meat and the meat was tender snd succulent. Overall, I enjoyed the food. Some of my complaints about this place is lack of up keep. The place you order the food kind of looks dirty and you can see things scattered all of the cooking area. Then in the dining area we had to switch tables 3 times. First one was wobbling and second was really stickey. Napkins actually stuck to the table. And the third table was less stickey. This restaurant has a lot of potential if the put some effort.
