Walnut Grove has always been beautiful, a lovely place for date night. The cakes are are show pieces that keep one wowed with their height and flavor combinations. My husband and I started our date with burgers. Huge burgers at that. The beef pattie was tender, well cooked, the bacon and onion rings were a perfect accompaniment to the pattie. As for my slice of carrot cake with cheesecake, it was absolutely delicious. The cake was moist, with a perfect ratio icing to cake.

We went in for supper on a Friday night. The restaurant was not to busy and we were seated fairly quickly. I chose to have a light meal and went with the chicken strips with almond crust which came with cheese fondue. The chicken was very tender and flavourful which was good. The food was prepared a bit on the slower side and the wait was a bit long. For dessert I tried the black velvet oreo cake. This was really good and the slice was very generous. One would struggle to finish it after a full meal. I would definitely return to try other options on the menu.
