Cafe 28

Our firm hosted our End of Year party at Cafe 28 this past weekend, and it was the best one we have ever had! The service from Alessio, Joseph, Cassandra and team was impeccable. Alessio went above and beyond to make sure that all of our dietary requirements were catered for (vegan/non dairy/no pork/ no beef) and every single dish that left the kitchen was delicious. The restaurant is gorgeous and our team loved that they could play a spot of mashie during the party. Drinks were flowing from the amazing bar staff, with a range of beers, spirits and cocktails made to order with almost no wait time. Alessio gave us free rein with regard to decor and any other extras that we wanted to bring in for our Carnival theme (incl a fire dancer!) and our team of 90 had an epic time dancing the night away. For the most authentic Italian food in the city, a gorgeous view, the best service in the business AND the most amazing pistachio bombolone you will ever taste- Cafe 28 is the one to beat.

I had the pizza and a fresh juice. Very filling, may be the best pizza I've had in South Africa so far. Fresh tasting ingredients and good service. When I walked downstairs I saw the amazing garden filled with beautiful Basil, tomato, zucchini and other plants and herbs. This filled me with joy. Very nice place and it's awesome to see they maybe actually grow a portion of their products themselves, which is very cool. (And even if they don't, it's nice to see the garden+apparently they import most of their products from Italy) Very authentic!

Been here multiple times and will never go to another Italian restaurant because this is the “Italian” restaurant. Imported cheese, tomatoes, olive oils. This place is so special and has a place in my heart. One of my absolute favorite restaurants. Starting to become a local here. The servers and owner is very kind and is so helpful if you don’t know what you want. My Italian background is screaming with joy. My favorite dishes is the Burrata and bufalina pizzas with added Parma ham. Highly recommend their Milanese burger too! The dough of the pizza is so light and fluffy. The sauce mixed with the cheese and olive oil just melts in your mouth. Parma ham adds that perfect saltiness although having just an iconic cheese pizza is best. Every ingredient is such quality. The pricing is reasonable as everything is imported. My opinion is that it’s so worth it. Can’t wait to be back.

We stumbled across this hidden gem after a game of Padel. Sitting outdoors with the garden view was just what we needed. The food was absolutely delicious. I especially loved the Strawberry Daquiri, it was fresh and full of flavour. The Milanese burger was also amazing. The staff were friendly, the manager even made it a point to check in on us throughout our time there. We'll definitely be back soon! :)

All we can say is a massive thank you to the management and staff at Cafe28. They really saved our bacon for an event we needed to host for our conference delegates! The staff were super friendly and helpful, the atmosphere was warm and vibrant and the food was out of this world - basically transporting us all the way to Italy. Thank you again and would recommend this venue 11/10 times for any events!
