Abar Baithak

This has been one of the OG book cafes in Kolkata. Situated in Jadavpur, this place gives off a strong Bengali vibe with all its collection of books, cinema posters, vintage decor and an old typewriter. There are pretty and photo worthy corners all over the place and the slightly elevated 1st floor gives off a heritage house feeling. But there are a few negatives that cannot be ignored, 1. The place is lacking maintenance, the furniture is worn out and chair-tables are tripping. 2. Service is really slow. Our simple cappuccino came about 25 minutes later and the pizza took forever. 3. The service is sloppy and looking closely this place is pretty dusty now. The food was okay and nothing mention worthy. Please look at the maintenance part as that is the priority here.

This is a quite popular Feluda themed Cafe in Jodhpur Park. They have got both outdoor and indoor seating arrangements. If you go for breakfast do try their Chicken platter ( though its available throughout the day). I will recommend their ginger honey tea as well along with fish fingers served with mayo and Kasundi. Staff is friendly, specially Shanti da really takes good care of the customers.

I love this particular place totally because of it's theme,ambience and some particular dishes.. It's a pleasant and quaint cafe with great retro and aesthetic interior, has books that go great with your cup of joe. Has outdoor and indoor seating, you can smoke outside while enjoying your beverages and food. I sat on the first floor, the service was a bit late, the servers weren't making as many rounds as they should have been but it was understandable as it was quite busy there (they were very polite and sweet). The cafe is not all that expensive if you're planning on splitting the bill, if you're going alone then it can cost you around 200-400/-. We had the thin crust barbeque chicken sausage pizza and it was a 3.5/5, the pizza had ample toppings but lacked in taste. The barbeque flavour wasn't there it was quite bland. The place is comfortable and cozy. It's a fully cushioned big diwan kind of seating with few tables also there (only on the first floor). All things considered I had a decent experience and would visit again.
