The Hat

For the first at this location The Hat in Lake Forest is by far my favorite. As a self-proclaimed pastrami connoisseur (yes, it's a thing), I can confidently say that this place has the best pastrami in all of Orange County. I recently made the trek all the way from Vegas just to experience this pastrami paradise, and boy, was it worth it! The first bite transported me to a world where angels sing and cows roam free, blissfully unaware of their delicious destiny. It was a spiritual awakening, let me tell you. I might have shed a tear or two, but who's counting? The service at The Hat is top-notch. The staff knows their stuff and they treat you like a long-lost cousin who just won the lottery. I guarantee you'll be writing love letters to pastrami for weeks to come with a full belly and a pastrami-induced smile!

This place is pretty good, the employees here are very busy, the gentleman who took our order answered my questions and was very polite. The Pastrami sandwich is large and was very delicious, a good size to share, we ordered the small size of fries, which is alot, this size would be more than enough to share with three people. The hamburger 🍔 was very good, great taste, it had a thousand island dressing, pickle, chopped onions and tomatoes. Someone ordered the chili fries while I was there, looked great, and extremely big...It's alot!! This was our first time to eat here, I was impressed with the food, service how clean this restaurant is compared to other restaurants. I highly recommend stopping here.

There is NO doubt --The Hat has THE BEST PASTRAMI in Orange County. Now I do it a little differently since I'm on a no carb diet--I do the pastrami with NO BUN. I do the mustard and pickles they normally add and for 8.5 ounces of Pastrami+Mustard+Dill Pickle Slice...you're looking at about 387 calories. All together with a small drink it's about $`16.00 incl tax--but it is well worth it. I usually eat there about two time a week and I have to do a 22 minute drive together there. Again--no complaints--well worth it The staff is very efficient and they get the orders out with great speed and precision. The atmosphere is good. A liste dated, but it's a diner. It's still 5 stars for THE BEST PASTRAMI in Orange County.

I only come here for the fries and onion rings so I can't comment on anything else. They have huge portions and the onion rings are some of the best I've ever had. Ask them to make the fries crispy. Good prices. I don't know what it is but I feel the drive through people feel like they are annoyed that you're there. 🤷‍♂️

My wife told me that The Hat has great sandwiches, especially the pastrami dip. I was in Lake Forest, and I happened to drive by The Hat unexpectedly. I ordered a pastrami dip and a small order of fries. The sandwich is worth every penny! It was so massive that I took half of it home! The pastrami was very moist, and they put it on a great roll. The fries were cooked well and were not soggy. I appreciate when I go to a restaurant and feel that I got my money’s worth. This location was clean, and everyone was friendly. It did not take too long to get my food. It was definitely a well-oiled machine. I would highly recommend eating here or any of the other The Hat locations.
