Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers

I love their chocolate custard. It is fantastic. Their burgers are like the old Steak n Shake steakburgers and their chili dogs would make Sonic the Hedgehog go bananas. They make it all fresh so I forgive slowness, but their staff could use some customer service training or drive thru etiquette work.

1st time eating here and got a double steak burger with cheese and bacon. It tasted delicious except it was very flat and was falling apart in my hands. And because of that I needed at least 10 extra napkins that I normally do cuz it was a sloppy mess, I felt like I was eating like I was a 4-year-old. but like I said it was delicious. The fries were good except I could have used more intact fries instead of all the broken pieces that required me to grab and pinch 6 to 7 broken pieces to put my mouth. I finished off with a turtle sundae which was about 99.4% ice cream and very little fudge and caramel around the top inside of the cup, next time I'll ask for more fudge.

Good, but not great. I wanted to love Freddy's based on how the food looks in the pictures and sadly, I was a little disappointed overall. The food was definitely not bad, but the burger lacked a bit on taste. The fries were smaller than I expected, but tasted good. The onion rings were good and unremarkable. The cheese curds tasted like the kind you get at a summer fair, which isn't a bad thing. I will say the highlight of the meal was the hotdog (we tried a chili dog and a Chicago dog). The dog was flavorful and snappy and the toppings were good. The only thing that was off-putting about this location was that the floor was very sticky. It was probably from the cleaning solution not being diluted enough, but still not a good first impression when each footstep to the front counter is a loud, sticky squeak. Overall, I'd say this place is worth a try. In my opinion it is very similar, but ultimately about a half step down from Culvers. Not sure if we'd be back, but I wouldn't discourage anyone else from trying it.

Ate here for the first time recently… it was delicious! Ordered the double cheeseburger combo meal - it was so delicious! The burger was cooked perfectly, and the addition of the onions and tomato went great with the bacon and cheese! The fries were also delicious! And so was the fry sauce! Will be back for sure!

We were happily surprised to see a Freddy's in Illinois, as we know the chain from Texas. Their burgers are cooked to order and their fries are thin and crispy, seasoned with salt n pepper. The staff was upbeat, and seemed to actually like their job. The restaurant and restroom were clean. There were only a few people inside, more business seemed to be from the drive-thru. The music was a bit loud, so if the dining room was full of chatter, I imagine that it could get quite loud. The double cheeseburger was good. The Patty Melt was flavorful with grilled onions, melted cheese and well toasted rye bread. The large order of cheese fries was a huge portion. Two adults barely ate half the order with the burgers. The fries were great, hot, crisp, seasoned well and lots of cheese. We will definitely stop by again while in the area. Thanks for a great experience!

Everything we had was good. The #2 was ratioed properly and onion rings were delicious. Patty melt was dry for me but perfect for my wife, kids enjoyed their chicken and fries and everyone loved the cheese curds. They had a newer person working the window and forgot the onion rings first time around but we're very courteous and quickly remedied it when we returned.
