Taj Mahal Authentic Indian Cuisine

This may not be the most reliable review coming from someone who loves Indian food, but the Taj Mahal is definitely the best Indian Restaurant in Lancaster. The things I appreciate the most are that their pickup counter is lightning fast, their naan is the perfect consistency of doughy and crispy, and they don’t water down or whitewash their spice levels. Takeout, dine-in, it doesn’t matter. If you’re looking for fantastic Indian food…this is the place to go!!

We had the buffet. I recognized half of the items offered, the rest were new to me. I tried to sample a little of everything, and avoided only a few items that contained ingredients I don't care for. Everything I tried was either very good or exceptionally delicious. I will dine here again when I have the opportunity to do so.

This place is pretty nice. The food was very tasty and definitely authentic. We were seated next to another family while the rest of the restaurant was empty. In addition, the table was very small for all the dishes and drinks. The main course came out before we were able to finish our appetizers which made it even more cramped while eating. Meals were well priced and definitely enjoyable.

I love this restaurant! I have been here multiple times over the years and always have a great experience. The food is delicious - the buffet has some good options and at a reasonable price. I particularly enjoy those sauteed green beans and that yummy spinach dish at the buffet. But, really, everything here is great - so make sure you try everything!

A great place to get authentic Indian food right off of Rohrerstown Road. The staff is super friendly and attentive. I usually stick with Tikka Masala or Curry, but switched it up and got the Jal-Freji. It was very flavorful and got my veggies in lol. The naan bread is out of this world and I think I could have been satisfied just eating that for my meal.

A great local spot for Indian cuisine. They have stood the test of time and are popular for take out. The spiced tea was so good. I highly recommend. I ordered the lentil soup, but the soup was a bit bland compared to others I’ve had. We had pakora to share, and they had fantastic side sauces. But the pakora were a little soggy and thick. I ordered the vegan Vegetable Tandoori which was fantastic. It was a huge portion. It lasted me for three meals. My husband ordered a vindaloo dish he enjoyed very much. It was a Saturday night and they had a live sitar player. If you want take out on Friday or Saturday, make sure you call way ahead of time. They had so many take out orders. Service is very friendly. The food is well done. It’s a great place, but I would say it took a long time for us to order. And the ambiance is family friendly. It’s brightly lit and very busy. They mark all the vegan dishes. I only wish they’d mark the breads that are vegan or have one vegan bread option.

Here at Mckonly's Garage Inc. we have monthly lunch meetings. With the meeting we let the different members of our team take turn picking where lunch comes from. The choice this time was Taj Mahal and only the one person had eaten there prior. People were skeptical about the choice. We ordered online, had some issues with some items not being on the menu as well as you can not use it unless it is during hours of operations. Everyone found something that they wanted to try, got the food with no issues and found the Front End staff at the Taj Mahal looking sharp in their clothes. Food got back to the shop and was all correct and looked delicious. Once sorted we dug in and were all impressed by the flavor of it all. The meat was all tender and heard a comments like "we will have to go there again". Would recommend this place to anyone and will definitely be coming back again. Thank You for a Great Meal!
