Red Pepper Chinese Restaurant

Fantastic food for a great price! Amazing authentic Chinese dishes. I ordered the Sichuan Spicy Tofu and it was so wonderfully crispy and with just the right amount of numbing spiciness. So good! The staff was also super nice. They only have delivery or carry out at the moment as they are working to bring back dine-in after the pandemic, but while I was waiting for my food, the hostess and I had a wonderful conversation. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for great Chinese in Lawrence!

This is my favorite place to get Chinese food. I really enjoy exploring some of their more authentic dishes. Makes me really appreciate I can try new food without having to travel far. I get the food here regularly and highly recommend it to anyone wanting a new Chinese place to try. (This was B1. 四川水煮牛- Beef in Sichuan chili broth, with nappa, celery, and bean sprouts.)

I've called around to Chinese restaurants from Topeka to Kansas City and this is the only one I found with authentic Chinese food, not "American Chinese" food. When I called I spoke to Dandan (she sort of runs the operations on the front-end) and she was very friendly and informative. I drove all the way from Topeka and ordered once I arrived. The three dishes only took 15 minutes to complete and I was given two bonus eggrolls just because I came all the way from Topeka. The food was delicious and spot on to what I loved to eat while living in China. The staff was friendly, and the price paid was very reasonable for the quality of food I received. The boiled pork (水煮肉片) was fantastic. I will definitely make the trip and get more food here!

Thought I’d try out red pepper after all the good reviews, boy was I wrong. I ordered the chicken lo mein and when I got home I found out that it was just chicken and noodles with a few carrot pieces. I called back to let them know and the lady said they gave me the wrong order and I would have to wait a additional 30 mins. When I got there they brought my food in and went through it then tried to bring it back saying there was lots of vegetables. I politely asked for a refund after they dug through it and tried to give it back to me. Due to the pandemic I no longer wanted the food after someone had to go through it. Not going back and I am regretting the mistake that I even tried it!
