Subway

Two stars for at least getting food. Customer service by the two guys on Sunday at noon was limited. They were kinda friendly. Kinda. Chopped salad was incredibly underwhelming. They didn't use the chopping bowl like every other Subway I've been to. Chopped salad meant they sliced and diced the meat; that was it. Portions were microscopic. I spent $9 on a less than half-full bowl of regular salad. Will never come back to this location.

The food may be great, but I didn't get that far. The young blond employee behind the counter was extremely snippy with me when I asked questions attempting to order. Her customer service skills and attitude left me with no desire to ever come to this particular store again. Don't bite the hand that is trying to buy your food, young lady! There are too many other restaurants in this town that treat customers with respect and kindness. My business will be at those!!

Expect to get uncomfortable. A simple day of a picnic at the park turned into a situation more uncomfortable than walking in on your parents doing it. At least that's how it felt. Let me dive deeper into this. Four friends and myself were standing in line while the sandwich maker tried to comprehend our orders. It took him over twenty minutes to make five sandwiches. Not kidding, my 95 year old grandmother is faster than this guy. Was he high? Probably. When his boss walked over to help with the orders I asked for my sandwich to get toasted. Apparently this request was too much for her to fulfill, and told the original sandwich maker to do this all himself. As she walked away she asked the employee making the sandwiches, who closed the night before. The employee's response was, "I don't f*#@ing know." Let's just say this didn't go over well. By the way this woman was his boss. She could not believe what she just heard so obviously she repeated it louder for every customer to hear. Mean while I'm laughing of uncomfortableness and wondering if I'm leaving this store alive. I did. But not in the same mental state as I entered.

I'm a Lawrence local and I've been to store Subway#5397 multiple times over my years, I will travel further and avoid the other subways just to come to this location. Always clean and friendly service with FRESH food out of the general rush hours, which is routinely not fresh at a lot of other locations. Shelley and the General Manager there (not sure of his name) are also a huge reason for my return visits, as they are very professional, courteous, and diligent in their trade ~!! would recommend to anyone looking for a sub sandwich!
