The Marquis Wellington

I've eaten here a few times over the last few years and am always impressed. It's a standard pub food menu, with some good vegetarian and vegan options, made with love. Tonight we had pie, chips and greens (perfectly cooked, I might add) and a burger. Both were very good and reasonably priced. Sunday roasts are also excellent, with veggie and vegan options. Decent size beer garden as well as a good amount of indoor seating. Card only. Service is friendly and welcoming and I noticed some ladies (as well as gents) sitting alone, so it's clear that people feel comfortable here.

Met a friend here for lunch in midweek. Unsurprisingly it was very quiet but this suited us as we were able to get a booth and have a good chat. This is an Everards pub and so had the main stays (Tiger, Old Original), with the addition of Tighthead and White Feather (which was very tasty) and more were advertised as coming soon. There was also a range of other popular lagers (Staropramen, Madri etc) and cider plus spirits (although I didn't look too closely at the range here). We both had a burger for lunch - the big bank burger and chicken burger - and this was what you'd expect from a standard pub burger and both were pretty tasty. There was a good range of other food available too. There was a lack of sauces on the table and these weren't offered when the food came. However, the staff were very friendly and welcoming and I would be happy to go back here.
