Bethany Blues Bbq

A good local BBQ restaurant. Been a couple years since I've been back here and was pleasantly surprised at the prices and quality of food. Though I miss the corn bread they used to give at every meal. Even coming near closing time the staff was pleasant and I did not feel rushed. Personally recommend the rib locations on the side of the road in Del but Bethany Blues comes in at a close second for their originality and constancy of food.

My friend and I had dinner here recently and it was amazing! Love the order online feature to avoid the weekend rush. They have great curbside delivery to make it a smooth process for on the-go customers. Plenty of places to park which was great too. The seafood was soooo good! It was the best crab cakes I’ve had in a long time. I would come back to the Lewes Beach area to go to this restaurant for their seafood. Also, that photo is there large nachos. Please consider yourself warned if you think one person can eat the large sized nachos. The only negative thing that happened was they forgot to provide my friend and I with plastic-wear. Besides that small poor customer service moment the food was terrific. I would recommend eating here for sure!

We ordered the jumbo pretzel for an appetizer and it was probably the best pretzel I've ever had! I ordered a salad and added bbq pulled chicken. The salad was huge! I had plenty of leftovers to eat the next day. My parents ordered two different things - coconut shrimp and ribs. They enjoyed what they ate. The blueberry lemonade sangria was yummy too!

I do recommend this restaurant. However. As with so many restaurants, check your entire order before leaving. Our two salads didn't have any dressing. They were supposed to have a vinegrette, but neither did. They were not on the salad or on the side. One of our rib orders seems to have sat under a heat lamp. Thus drying it out and toughened it. Everything else seemed fine though.

I would like to comment on the food, but after waiting 30 minutes and watching 3 other families get seated while we waited we left. I guess only friends and family get seated in a half empty restaurant. At first I believed it was due to a short staff, but there were plenty of servers standing around talking to each other, but that didn't excuse the eye roll from the hostess when I cheerfully stated 4 adults and 1 little. We asked the bartender if we could sit in the bar and were told we needed to ask the hostess. Bethany Blues will never see a dime from any of our family. They suck!

So Bethany Blues has been on my “to do” list for a while now and I finally decided to give them a try. Usually when I want bbq I will drive to the nearest Mission BBQ to satisfy my craving but I wanted to try something new instead. When calling my order in over the phone I made it a point to mention that I have never eaten at the restaurant before, hence the reason I order so many small quantities of different items. During that call I asked the operator if the kid’s pulled pork came in a sauce or if it was on the side. She stated that it was on the side. The baked beans were bland and watery. The macaroni and cheese was pretty basic and tasted if it was made with one type of cheese. By the way both of those sides came in incredibly small condiment containers. The corn bread wasn’t bad after heating it up but looked like it was cut with anything but a knife and thrown in the box. The fires weren’t bad and the pulled pork was delicious. But there was no sauce anywhere, thank goodness I keep some at home. So after realizing I was sauceless I contacted the store to inquire if the item came as lose meat or a sandwich and what happened to my sauce. The operator offered no solution but apologized which is unacceptable considering that bbq sauce is what makes good smoked meat delicious. So as a result, I wasn’t pleased and if I ever go again it will be just for meat and I’ll make my own sides.
