Bronte Bistro

Overall the visit was good but I will break it down a bit. The ambience of the restaurant is great especially if you get a window seat with a nice view of the pond and ducks. The menu hasn't changed much over the years meaning there are a few dishes that you can count on being good. The Brie appetizer is one of them and you really can't go wrong with the either the Bronte Burger or the Bronte Vegetarian Chili. Service is good not great but nothing that would prevent additional visits. Price is slightly above average price (some of this is newly raised). I will end with this, overall this place is pretty good and the fact that you are in a wonderful Book store plus!

I have at here probably 50 times in the last year and I am always recommending this lace to everyone. Today was a disappointment. The waitress was super nice but had to ask for condiments twice but they were busy and short staffed. I ordered French toast and it was as gooey and undercooked as possible. Could not eat it. It was like raw dough. They brought me a fresh order and it was somewhat better but still doughy in the middle. Ate around it. This is my first bad experience ever here.

Food was good. Nice atmosphere and view, but I think they are short-staffed. We did not get any refills on drinks or the hot saice I asked for (waitress did not come back until she gave us our check) but she was still friendly and moved our table when we asked to get one by the windows! So it's totally understandable

The berry fruit salad had a small handful of blueberries, no strawberries or pecans. Complaint was made and cost reduced to half price as requested. Snippy manager later delivered pecans, but said they were out of strawberries. She didn't seem to appreciate mention that a grocery store was nearby. Seats had noticeable tears. Faucet in bathroom dripping and one paper towel holder out of order. Some of these things have not been repaired over several visits, which include bookstore. Seriously, serve what's advertised and make basic, simple repairs. Customer service training for manager would be helpful also.

Used to love this place and they used to have a nice happy hour I enjoyed frequently last spring/summer after work. Visited last night and was told the happy hour has changed from 4-6pm to 3-5pm...which doesn't make much sense. We left to find a happy hour elsewhere and will sadly probably now have less visits to what used to be my favorite weeknight eateries.

I'm from out of state. I was 5 days out of surgery on a very strick liquid diet. I thought I'd rest, have a decaf tea and take care of some business on my phone. I ordered the tea. It did not brew, after awhile I asked if I was " doing something wrong" since it wasn't brewing. The waitress didn't understand the question. After 10 minutes i pushed it aside. I didn't think warm water w lemon was worth $4. She brought the bill and we had a short discussion about it, she said "so you don't want to pay for it?" I thought, wow she thinks I should. How about when you see a full cup of tea pushed aside, you say " is something wrong?" "Maybe the water wasn't to temp, can I reheat it?" "can I get you a different one?" I have been in management and customer service my entire life, and I have quite the tea collection. I'm 57 and not new to any of this. She said "I won't charge you for it, just leave me a tip" well of course I'm going to leave you a tip for carrying a cup of hot water to the table, really I would even though that was sarcastic, I left a $1.00 25% but in hindsight, it should have been 2 pennies for the worst service and attitude ever.
