The Bistro At Childress Vineyards

Beautiful place to visit! Their layout is very spacious and inviting. There is a lovely gift shop once you walk into the main foyer that has their decadent wines, trinkets, jams, and elegant decor. They also offer reserved dining with a Bistro, wine tasting, and live music. There's plenty of space to wander with amazing views of the winery. It's extremely clean and the staff are knowledgeable and very friendly! This is most certainly a go to spot if you are in the area!!

I reserved a table at the Bistro for my husband's 21st birthday. I believe first impressions matter, and this place is just beautiful. Once we were seated our waitress, Gracie, came right over and from the start gave us the best service. She is very nice and hospitable and she knew exactly what to get for my husband when he asked for a wine recommendation. The food was also amazing. We got the meatball ravioli appetizer and for my main course I got the salmon, both of which I highly recommend. We will definitely be going back there soon.

I came here on 1/18/21 with friends. We had a 12:30pm reservation for wine tasting and a 1:40pm reservation for the bistro. 5/5 stars for everything. We definitely enjoyed the whole experience. For the wine tasting, we did the Luxe Wine Tasting, which included a souvenir crystal Riedel wine glass, a chocolate square, and a bottle of water. This requires a reservation and is limited to groups of 6 or less. We had a choice between 9 sweet and light wines or 9 dry and bold. We all chose the sweet and light. From the ones tried, my favorite was Muscadine Sweet Wine and Muscadine Sweet Rose! We also got the chocolate shot, which was an extra $2.99. I didn’t really link the wine that was used BUT it was in an edible chocolate shot “glass”. We were to hold the wine in our mouth and then add the chocolate glass. The chocolate helped neutralize the flavor. Olga served our wines. She was amazing! Sadly, wine tours aren’t available at this time :( Hopefully it’ll be available next time I go back. The walk to the bistro was nice. The vines are empty now, as it’s out of season. I will definitely be back. Our waitress was Tara. She was attentive and outstanding. We got pimento dip and meatballs for our appetizer. The meatballs (which comes with fried ravioli) was DELICIOUS!! The pimento was eh. Not that great. The cheese looked over cooked and it was SALTY! The jam helped neutralize the saltiness but it still wasn’t all that. The pork rinds that came it was fine. For food, I got the flatbread pizza. No complaints. One friend got the linguine mussels and the other for the maple pecan crusted salmon. We ultimately made it tapas style and shared each other’s food. It was all AMAZING! The salmon came with sweet potatoes and green beans. Wine by the glass and the slushes are half price on Monday’s. It is normally $15 for the slushee and the wine I got (Muscadine Sweet Rose) is normally $6. The gift shop has many items! I ended up getting a birthday cake truffle and a strawberry truffle. They were $3.99 a piece. I liked the strawberry one better and the birthday cake one didn’t taste like birthday cake. The jelly bean on it was good though lol. Covid: Of course, masks are required and were worn by staff and guest. Hand sanitizer were provided. I CANNOT WAIT TO GO BACK!!!!

I feel bad writing this but extremely disappointing visit here . We started with a cheese board. The cheese tasted like plastic, 4 different choices, obviously very inexpensive cheese, the brie was bitter, and the crackers were cheap boxed crackers. With little effort and expense a much tastier cheese board could be served especially for the price. The reserve Cab we purchased was very light, with little flavor. Sweet potatoes fries we ordered were cold. We decided not to order anything else due to the experience thus far.

Such a beautiful place. They had live entertainment. It was peaceful and a beautiful day. Everyone was spaced well apart as not to interfere with each other's conversations. Well priced and good staff. Was a great afternoon with the family and would definitely go back and recommend for a nice relaxing day.
