It's Maine and it's summertime and you want an off- the- market flavor? How about lemon custard? Apple crisp? Maybe ginger? And there are plenty more.
Ordered the brownie sundae with lemon custard, and can I tell you: I'm a big stickler for if it's not broken don't fix it. If I like this menu item, I'm getting only that. But the lemon custard was the perfect lemony, not sickly sweet combo with the sorta fudgy, thinner brownies that added a dark, rich uplift to the lemon.
Oh and the whip cream, peanuts and hot fudge toppings were perfection together.
100% recommend this place.
Oh and the brownie sundae is a lovely almost $8. But, you get the Mainer's serving size.
(Still pricey for a broke college student)
There are picnic tables outside, and there are seating options inside as well.

I got the Pint and it was the best icecream we had. well worth the price. 25 dollars for 2 pints, 6 cookies a small ice cream and 3 home made cones

John's Ice Cream is a tradition! Don't go by without stopping! I highly recommend the chocolate strawberry or raspberry! I usually yell out, "Did you miss me?" Now last year a pint was a better value than 3 scoops! Don't you know Yankees are a thrifty lot!

Loved this place and would defiantly visit again. The ice cream melted in my mouth as I took a bite full of flavours. I enjoyed every bit of my experience at Johns Ice cream shop and I hope they stay successful forever. Much love to the employees and owner, big hearted community. John you bloody legend!
