The Beal House

The Beal House food was good. It seemed like they were trying to be upscale with their food but sort of missing the mark. For example, the fried chicken tasted good but it was a mystery cut - as a biology major, I couldn't figure out what part of the chicken I was eating based on the bone that was clearly there but not attached to a shape that was discernable as a chicken part. Again, it tasted good. I liked the brocolli because I like my brocolli crunchy but my friend did not like it because to her, it was undercooked. The creme brulee was weird. First it was served in a deeper dish that I have ever seen it before. There was not a nice hard sugar layer. It needed a little more time with the blow torch. And, it was cold at the bottom. The taste was amazing!! But the dish did not look like or feel like creme brulee. I like that they serve kombucha, but it was expensive. Actually, the whole meal was pretty pricey. Two of my dinner companions said they used to eat there often but now it was not a place they would come regularly now. My adult girls would love it as it is the kind of "fancy" stuff they like. I wouldn't take my meat-and-potato Dad.

As part of my tour of New England's most haunted hotels, I must confess that I was quite taken with this delightful establishment. From the moment of my arrival, the courteous and efficient staff attended to my every whim with great alacrity. The accommodations were nothing short of superb, with exquisitely appointed guest rooms that evoked a sense of the refined elegance of a bygone era. The crisp linens and plump pillows ensured a restful slumber, while the antique furnishings lent an air of sophistication to the overall ambience. Yet it was the atmosphere of the Beal House Inn that truly captured my heart. As a connoisseur of the macabre, I was delighted to discover that the inn is reputed to be haunted by a number of spectral entities, including the ghost of a young girl who perished in a fire on the premises many years ago. Although I did not personally encounter any otherworldly apparitions during my stay, the pervasive sense of mystery and intrigue was palpable, and added immeasurably to the overall charm of the inn. In short, I can heartily recommend the Beal House Inn to any discerning traveler who seeks a combination of refined luxury and haunting intrigue. It is truly a gem among New England's many haunted hotels, and one that I shall not soon forget.
