Atmospheric and unusual pub, set in an old gaol and you can sit in the cells! Nice range of beers. Got a cheery welcome and a handshake from the barman too which was nice. Will definitely go again.

Initially we went to the original Bridewell Prison by accident which is 10 mins in the wrong direction! Once here we found a charming and compact pub.. The staff are helpful and friendly, with an option of table service too! A good selection of craft and German beers. The booths are converted cells that you can sit in for the authentic "jail" experience. We went on a quiet Monday afternoon but I can imagine it will get rammed of a weekend and evening. Hight recommended! PS no food!!

Never Judge a book by its cover.
After asking a local for directions for a good pub we was directed here.
It does not look much from the outside its a old converted prison.
Apart from being one of the quirkiest pubs we have been in for a long time. the old cells have been turned into booths.
The staff were really friendly and the beer warrants a second visit

Excellent pub, exemplary cask beer and unusually for Liverpool, table service. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, screens for sport and plenty of snugs in the old cells, great atmosphere.

Absolutely loved it here. Fab friendly service - the bar tender asked did we want more drinks when passing and brought them to us - prices fairly reasonable too. 😀

Really enjoyed my first visit here and will be sure to return. Great service and a decent range of beers to choose from while sitting back in a former Police lock up that still has the original exposed brickwork and cell doors. It was also nice to enjoy being served at our table.

A bit unusual, sort of table service but can still be served at the bar, or order at the bar and your drink brought over and pay.
Very nice place to enjoy one of their may hand pumps, interesting architecture inside and outside.

Fantastic place. Used to come here in the 80's as they had band rehearsals in the cells. They've done a beautiful job restoring it but not losing it's history. Bar staff and atmosphere lovely.
