Blue Duck Kitchen & Bar

First visit to the Blue Duck Kitchen & Bar. Hoping my wife would go along but she declined for lack of appetite. Glad I went. The building which the Blue Duck occupied matched my age. It was built & completed in 1935 during the Great Depression.. Beautiful architectural design. The restaurant was packed on my arrival. Wait time for a table for me to be seated was approximately.15 minutes. Several customers were either turned away because of wait time or no reservations. Reception & serving staff were friendly. Ordered a Steiner Bock Beer, Fried Mushrooms. and a Flank Steak with Aspargus at moderate prices. All food items were tender & excellent. A good testimonial to how good the food was, my wife who had no appetite or hunger. ate everything I brought back to hotel.. For me. It was a great dining experience!

GREAT servers, awesome service, cute location. Fun ambiance. However, the food was unexpectedly bland. I ordered the Cajun pasta with shrimp, assuming it would have a kick, like one would expect from a Cajun inspired dish. The shrimp was really good, but the pasta itself (and the cream sauce) had very little flavor. Someone else in our party said their catfish was very bland, as well. Overall, it was a nice evening, and we’ll be back. I do wish they’d kick up their usage of spices and herbs a few notches, though. PS There’s plenty of parking in the back of the building. And check out the pretty floral mural on the building next to where The Blue Duck is located!

Excellent food, large portions for the $$ which is always a plus. The bar is lit, nice strong drinks and not loaded with sugar! Met the owner and the son, another plus, plus to care that your customers are comfortable and that their food was great. Amazing experience and service, will definitely return in the near future!!😊

This is a very elegant restaurant in the downtown area of Livingston, Tx. The wait staff is very friendly and had a good knowledge of drink orders and the menu. I came here with family and we all ordered a drink from the bar. Our drinks came out on time and were made accurate. Our bartender even came up to our table to ensure that we were happy with our order. I ordered the fried fish platter and my wife had a burger. My fried fish platter with fries was one of the best fish meals I've had. Well seasoned and cooked well. This is a nice restaurant to take your family, or even just to come to the bar to have a few drinks and enjoy their live music once in a while. 10/10 will be definitely going back.
