Stumbled across this lovely, traditional Victorian pub while killing time before meeting a friend. I just love old school, single room boozers like this, complete with carpet, old brass till, unpretentious people and a decent selection of cask ales. The latter included Sambrooks and Adnams at the time of my visit on a Sunday afternoon. There are TV screens for watching sport but they don’t dominate the atmosphere. Also outdoor seating for fair weather socialising. Definitely my new favourite pub in Fitzrovia.

The King and Queen ❤️ Backstreet pub in Fitzrovia just around the corner from the BT Tower. Love the architecture of this pub as it looks like German castle and there is traditional decor inside. The Landlady was great, serving multiple customers at once. Returned here after many a year. The seats and tables and I think carpet, have had a refresh. What struck me was the selection of alcohol free beers -Brewdog IPA, Guinness zero and a few others. I've not seen such a collection at a pub before. As it's a free house, there's a wide variety of regular drinks too. Landlord is great. Upstairs on the last Friday of every month, there is an intriguingly excellent, small semi acoustic evening of left field folk, electronica called Scaledown. Be prepared for something different! A recommended, proper pub.
