Royal Standard

Went here last night for a friends catchup. The place was closed but a nice lady pointed us in the direction of the temporary place I guess- it was a one minute walk if that. I was pleasantly surprised at the nice little Mexican bar type place. Staff was nice, drinks tasted great, place was warm and food was immaculate. Definitely recommend :)

Just stopped by for a drink before a walk along Paddington basin. Very friendly staff. In fact, it was so nice we stopped by again after our walk for some nibbles and a drink. Super friendly service and no need to have pre-booked as with everywhere else along the "basin" . There are lots of empty tables along the canal coz customers haven't yet turned up and they're missing out on money by not getting people stop for a quick drink. Sat in the sunshine at the Royal Standard and enjoyed some of their lovely warm, homemade pitta bread with some nibbles. Excellent. Will be going back.

Unexpectedly good food and exceptional service. I had a lovely fillet steak and nice crisp chips, other people in the party had a huge souvlaki platter (incredible value for money!) calamari, patatas bravas, octopus and an amazing Greek salad. The owner is Greek and is incredibly warm and friendly, the waitress was exceptional AND they made a cracking whiskey sour. Highly recommend!

Top notch! Or something. We met Liz and John, they took us here. Nice to meet new people when you visit London for a weekend. Nice prices and near Paddington. You might have to look for the bar when going, but it's well worth the effort. Drinks, beers and friends, what more do you need for a great evening? You should go!
