I often visit the Vanguard with friends and family and basically never disappoints me. The food is always delicious, I'm a fan of their eggs royale and pancakes, drinks are also nice and their fresh lemonade is unbeatable. This is definitely our trusted pub for brunches and easy drinks!

I really like the atmosphere here, it's always very relaxed and the food is pretty decent! I have also attended the pub quiz hosted here and there are a range of questions where I feel everyone can contribute. There is sometimes a slow service during busy periods but this to be expected.

I had the Eggs Benedict which was really nice! As far as Benedicts goes, I’m really pleased.
Staff was super friendly and food came quick.
Got a spot outside in the sun and just enjoyed my time.

Thursday quiz night was fun, we won the quiz but after asking for the final bill for the evening was told that we could not offset the £50 bar tab winnings towards it and have to come back another time to redeem. Good bar staff mixing up decent cocktails. Bar snacks were ok too.

My daughter and I had fantastic brunches. Turkish eggs and veggie brunch, both of which were delicious. The weather was nice and we were sitting outside. Good service, too!

Went on a Friday night, great food (we ordered burgers) the chips were fresh and crispy, sweet potato options available (which is really nice as well). The coffee is exceptional. Good atmosphere with DJ at night.

Great brunch! The broccoli, cheese, potatoes and eggs is delicious! The avocado tostada is a must and the greek yogurt is tasty. The place is bug and great for both families and friends gatherings. The latte is good too. They have some great events and movie nights. Also a nice library:) They took long time to bring our food that is why I only giving them 4 stars. We will try again because we really love the place and the friendly waitress

This eatery has gone through several incarnations over the past year. My last visit 6 months ago during one of its embryonic starts was lame at best and I vowed not return....until a few weeks ago.
Passing by, I noticed a slick little jazz band playing. And I recognized some local E20 neighbours inside.I entered cautiously......and had a lovely evening. Since then I've enjoyed the past half dozen or so times I've visited. Warm friendly efficient staff, a nice diner-ish menu with healthy options, drink specials, outside seating, regular live music..we've been waiting for a place like this!!
They serve excellent Bloody Marys. And drink and food specials for members! No cost to join, just sign up for a card.
I particularly love the kooky 1960s and 70s music/ travel / scientific/ public information type films they project high on the wall. A great way to escape the day.
