Gibson Hall

A truly awful experience at Gibson. Do not be fooled by the appearance of the venue. It is run by a very rude and unprofessional man, Shellin, who will make promise after promise while planning your event, only to break them all on your special day. He was not interested in making the guests comfortable and lied about the cooling system which did not exist (not even fans!). It ended up being 40° inside the hall during a summer day which are terribly unsafe conditions which forced guests to spend most of the day outside where there was no food or drink or tables set up. Huge health and safety hazard and massively embarrassing for the bride & groom who were lied to from the very start. I have heard Gibson has the opposite problem in the winter – freezing inside because heating systems not adequate. At the end of the night, all remaining alcohol (worth £800) which the bride & groom provided were stolen by Shellin and his team. He has not returned any calls or emails regarding this theft and ruined what should have been a lovely wedding day. Could not recommend this venue or Shellin’s services to anyone. Please avoid!!

Beautiful historic building in the heart of the City of London. A very impressive hall with beautiful architectural features plus a light and modern refreshment room with a charming semi private garden. Downstairs facilities could do with an upgrade. The venue staff was kind and friendly but the communication with the catering company could be improved.

Stunning venue very well suited for our conference. The staff was helpful and went the extra mile to try to accommodate our requests and the catering service was really good. A special thank you to Patience and the Operation team. There was a hiccup with the service provided by an external A/V company, though. Other than that, Gibson Hall is a thoroughly recommended venue for conferences.

We hired Gibson hall for our company summer party. We wanted an external venue, close to the office with an outside area and Gibson hall ticked all these boxes. The venue is really grand and lends itself to various layouts and guest numbers. The whole event was really well received by staff. The food was of really good quality and the dessert station is a must have at any event. The weather meant we spent most of the time in the garden area, but as daylight faded and the drinks took effect we found ourselves hitting the dance floor in the main hall. Valeria was great at making sure our needs were met and on the night Jose and Siead were fabulous, making sure that everything was running smoothly and that guests were happy. We will definitely be looking at Gibson hall for 2019.

If you're considering this venue for your wedding, I would suggest that you seriously start thinking about another venue. On the face of it, the venue looks great... high ceilings, vintage design and nice small grounds - unfortunately thats where it ends. The in house caterer and events manager completely ruined our wedding reception. Alongside the wrong food being served, it was cold; soft drinks had finished and the events manager was no where to be seen when we tried to raise our concerns. My wedding evening, which was supposed to be one of the most memorable days of my life, was memorable for all the wrong reasons. A complete and utter shambles... do not select this venue... In hindsight i would have rather spent the extra money on a better venue that was going to provide what we had actually paid for. The company who manages the venue is just as bad - Kudos; in way of compensation for the incorrect food, cold food, running out of soft drinks, poor events management and generally poor service thought that £500 would be sufficient for the loss of family reputation...hurtful messages from guests saying how 'rubbish the event was' and the fact that our special day, a day to remember for the good reasons will be remembered for all the wrong reasons!!!!

Amazing (and dramatic) former banking hall. Baroque and lavish. Good for events of up to 300 sitting down. Side room can hold 300 standing- looking over a small garden - side room can be cold due to the amount of glass, but it is an attractive vista. Toilets are in the basement, near the cloakroom, and need refurbishment. Food produced is excellent for mass catering.

Great customer service from the wedding coordination team (in particular Valeria) who was highly accommodating on the phone, generous with her time and tireless in answering my many questions. I was offered ample advice and detailed information by email. Unfortunately I didn’t get to book Gibson as my wedding guest list grew by 50, and reached over their capacity, however the main hall of the venue is breathtaking! I thoroughly enjoyed the tour with Val and put at ease (never pressured) when making one of the biggest decisions of my biggest day! Thanks guys
