Manpuku Tokyo Bbq

The meat was well-marinated that elevate the dining experience. The staff, in addition to being friendly, is consistently attentive, donning welcoming smiles that enhance the inviting atmosphere. The combination of delicious food and excellent service makes Manpuku a standout choice for Japanese BBQ enthusiasts in Los Angeles.

What I truly miss, is some pictures on the menu. I had no idea what kind of meat I was ordering to be honest and it was hard to guess how much to order for our party of 3. The staff did help out, but it would be great if the menu had more directions for this. The portions are small (100gr) but the quality was great. So it was pricey, but they do have special cuts. 1 thing that was weird, we ordered the shishito pepper assuming it would be more than 1 pepper.. it was not.

Having never been to a Japanese BBQ, this experience was memorable and satisfying to a novice. My dinner mates have significantly more knowledge and their skill in ordering and cooking was high soI benefited from that edge. The beef we selected was, beef tongue, NY strip, prime rib, and kobe . The prime rib was my favorite. Eggplant and corn grilled to bring out the sweetness of each was great. The Japanese ice cream shop a short walk down the same street was the perfect ending. I got custard filling with Oreo cookie soft serve and braised Oreo dusting.

A strong 4 ⭐ for this Sawtelle Japanese BBQ. Delicious, juicy and tender with not too much fatty. This is all i can say for the bbq yakiniku. Staff was really friendly and told us how to get a perfect bbq. Must place to go if you are around area & looking for BBQ Japanese food. The pork cheek is really juicy and smell really good & it's also tender. Bad thing, it's hard to find parking around the restaurant.

Always wanted to try Japanese style BBQ. Me and my wife always pass by this place and finally decided to give it a shot. We brought our daughter and started out with pork belly, Kobe beef short rib, chicken, Japanese sausages, assorted veggies, garlic asparagus, garlic noodles, garlic fried rice, and a side of lettuce wraps which came with fried garlic, pickeld Daikon, chili paste, thinly sliced scallions, and some ice teas to wash it down. We didn't get reservations, however the host had an open table for us and suggested that we reserve a table next time. The restaurant had and elegant vibe to it, clean, organized, warm welcome, and excellent service. We will return again to try more items on their menu.

It’s been 5 years since my last visit, and happy to find that Manpuku still offers highest level of quality of Japanese Yakiniku in US. Their 2 Negi Shio, especially beef tongue is always a must, as well as others Wagyu style beefs and Angus beefs. I like their guts too, try Yuzu flavor. They now have outdoor seatings so easier to book than before. Staffs are always super friendly and knowledgeable. Great employee education as before.

Another good place in LA if you want proper Japanese food. Started to offer open-air seating since the onset of the pandemic, together with charcoal grills for open-air tables to help exude the flavors of the meats. Some of the most prized meats include the Japanese A5 Miyazaki Rib-eye and the Snake River Farms thick-cut beef tongue. If you want a proper dining experience here, I'd recommend going for an open-air table while you can. Hope they retain these tables, including the charcoal grills, post-pandemic. Doing this will allow diners to get a feeling of a real and authentic Japanese charcoal barbecue meal.
