Wildwood Restaurant

Wildwood is a nicely presented restaurant with many of the features you'd expect from a building of antiquity, large beams etc. Service was pleasant and professional but could have been quicker at times. The venue was around half full. Prices seemed a bit ambitious for the food which was presented well but could have used some additional ingredients to lift it above good. Overall you'll enjoy the experience but it's not outstanding, hence 4 stars.

Yesterday my friend and I had a delicious meal here; always a lovely lunch venue, the sea bass we had was spot on, and our waitresses sweet and charming. We were enjoying a small celebration, and sadly, at the end of the meal I stupidly mislaid a ring, which I was convinced had fallen down the sink in the cloakroom. Rebecca, the manageress, could not have been kinder or more helpful, or more handy as a plumber! She not only unscrewed the covering panel below the sink, but successfully removed the drain section and searched it for the missing ring, whilst I flapped about like a headless chicken, in tears.....only to discover it in the bottom of my handbag. Rebecca, you are a total star, and if that’s not great service I’d love to know what is. We will, most definitely, be back.

Went in here as it seems to be one of the only places in Ludlow that serves food between 3pm and 6pm (what’s that about?!). We were attracted by a special menu offer on a board outside, but that menu wasn’t offered to us. It didn’t matter as we had already been tempted by various things on a menu that would offer something for most. We went for pizzas, which we wouldn’t normally, but they looked so good. They were! Thin, not overly cheesy or greasy, interesting toppings (duck and hoisin with cucumber) and even the dough was excellent quality.

When we arrived, the front of house was completely empty, leading me to think the venue was closed, so almost walked on by. But realised after venturing down a corridor that it goes quite far back & was quite busy. We just had cocktails, which were very tasty & had plenty of options, including non-alcoholic. Staff were friendly but very difficult to get hold of, not sure if they were prioritising customers that were eating or maybe where we were sat, but we were left alone for long periods when we wanted to order more drinks. The 241 offer on cocktails wasn't automatically applied to the bill, the waitress apologised for this & rectified. Overall an ok experience, the place looks great but the service needs improvement.
