Feathers Tea Room

Had lunch here on a short visit to Ludlow. This early 17th century hotel with its incredibly detailed wood carving is full of character and charm. One of the gables actually appears to lean! Inside there's a cosy lounge bar with comfy sofas and a log fire, but I had my lunch in the pleasant (but over-modernised) tea room. They do sandwiches, soup and other light meals as well as a cream tea. Service was a bit slow but the lunch when it arrived was really good. Had a smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich with a tasty red coleslaw and salad with pickled cucumber and cauliflower. The sandwich was generously filled and the thick seeded bread was soft and very fresh. Tea was served in a pretty china teapot, with china cup and saucer. The meal cost that bit more than average but then the food was above average quality. Would come again.
