Joe-bear And Sons Texas Bbq

I'm posting this just after wolfing down The pork ribs, pulled pork, collard greens, coleslaw, and corn bread. The ribs are great, the perfect amount of bite and smokiness. The pulled pork was excellent. I recommend the hot BBQ sauce, it's not too spicy but is mustard based and has the right amount of tang. Both meats are good with and without the sauce. Collard greens were on point. The coleslaw was pretty good, and the corn bread was ok. Get there early because the sell out quickly. The guy and his son were very friendly.

Spending the day in Macon and it was time for lunch. My daughter pulled up Google and found Joe-Bear & Sons. Great choice. Looks like the family keeps a lot of positions staffed. Food was excellent, service as fast, and the restaurant was very clean. Worth traveling a little out of your way for Joe-Bear & Sons.

New to macon and heard good things about them so i tried them out 7/30/17 Open 2-5 on sunday whinch is great. I ordered beef ribs w/mild sauce on the side, Baked beans and potatoe salad.... The rib meat was very tender and fell completely off the bone, but the more i ate the more the taste didnt settle with me. The sauce was horrible & made me happy i ordered it on the side!! Baked beans tasted more like a bowl of brown sugar. And the potatoe salad also disappointed me bc all i could taste was mustard and "real mayo" and i am a (tater salad) fan!!! *note...as greedy as i am i DID NOT finish my plate. Maybe i ordered the wrong thing, but i will not be coming back for a while ... if ever! Rate: 2 out of 5 stars

I ordered brisket and rib platter with sides of cole slaw and collards with a piece of corn bread. Ribs were big, meaty, and really good, nice flavor and perfectly cooked. The collards were also very good. The cole slaw was just what I expected, very nice. I was very dissapointed by the brisket, it was inedible. So dry and chewy, I would have been too embarrassed to serve it. More like jerky than brisket. It looked like pan scrapings. The corn bread was equally as bad, burned and dry. I got the spicy sauce on the side for my ribs, it was good, but not very spicy. I would order the ribs and collards, again, but that is all, and probably will just try another place since I feel like I got ripped off on the brisket.
