Zhang's Restaurant Corporation

Our usual sushi place was super busy tonight because of New Years and we couldn't get through so we decided to try Zhang's. I am so glad we did because it was delicious! We both had their sushi deluxe, accompanied with Miso soup and a rainbow roll to share. We have been to plenty of sushi places in the area and this one is up there with the best of quality. An absolute must try.

This is some of the best sushi I’ve had. I come 3 or 4 times a week and the sushi is always fresh. In the area this is one of the best places to go. The Zhang’s roll is one of my favorites. The staff is always very friendly and cordial when I come in. The chef is also very pleasant and is willing to adapt the rolls for the customer’s requests. This is my go to place when I want to get my sushi fix.

If you need a good cleansing of your bowels, order anything off the menu here. Meat is not fresh and all tastes the same and what's worse, their sushi grade fish that is used in their sushi is not fresh. Staff are rude and not attentive in the least. If you order a glass of wine here expect to receive wine that is on the verge of being vinegar. Also, don't bother complaining about it because they wont take it off the bill. If you can, try to s**t your brains out in their fairly clean bathroom before you leave, otherwise it's going to hit half way home.

Our vegetarian Sushi was pretty good! Scallion pancake was fantastic and I have gotten standard takeout fare here before without incident but don't make my mistake: don't order the "szehuan ravioli" aka dumplings covered in chili/peanut sauce. They looked and smelled great on the plate. We love dumplings, we expected porky/mince, scallion-y filling and we have had peanut sauce before and this peanut sauce was delicious but almost in unison my date and I opened it up, smelled it, thought our noses were confused and tasted just enough to verify that the filling did smell iffy and tasted sweet in a way I am not used to in any dumpling. We tried to politely communicate the problem and were offered that the waitress could pack it up? Couldn't tell if she didn't understand us or didn't intend to replace/refund. We repeated that they did not taste right and we wouldn't be eating them at the table OR at home. I wished she had offered to replace the 10/12 funky dumplings or at least take them off the ticket! I get the feeling folks more entitled than us have blown smaller issues out of proportion for free food: I got the feeling like I was going to have to be pushy to get my money back and even though $7 means quite a bit to me, my date meant a lot more and was already very put off so we left fast. We did not get sick and none of the other food we ate that night was dodgy!! This place is worth a try; Just skip the dumplings that come pre-rolled in a complex sauce. Maybe try the szehuan peanut sauce on other stuff? The sauce was not a problem and was not inside the dumpling. Maybe staff didn't know about the funky dumplings (fingers crossed that someone in the kitchen tries the dumpling mix?) and I didn't have the energy to complain a 3rd time that night. Tipped that night because if we return it will be takeout and will not include much meat. If we never ordered those 'szehuan ravioli" or if the charge had been removed would have been a 5 star affordable date spot.
