Sophia's At Walden

I like this place and I stop here + the coffee house next door at least 3 times per week! If I had to say anything negative it would be that it's a little bit pricey, but you have to expect that for quality and a small locally owned place that probably pays a small fortune in rent + pay role... Over all, a great experience every time I stop here!

We stopped here for breakfast. Service was fast and food was good. I ordered a vanilla latte and French toast with sausage and poached eggs. I wouldn’t say this was the best breakfast, but it wasn’t bad. It was just okay to me. I wasn’t a fan of the sausage and the eggs were okay the French toast was good but nothing special. The latte wasn’t my favorite. It has a different taste to it. I coffee and I enjoy trying different local coffee shops, but this latte wasn’t for me.

VERY disappointed. To start, my family arrived as a party of 5 and we did not have reservations, so we were given a wait time and informed that the hostess would call us if a table opened up. Okay, understandable. We waited the allotted time and received no phone call, so we returned to the hostess (who had no memory of us) and were seated shortly (meanwhile there were at least 4 available tables we could have been seated at earlier). Upon being seated, we requested glasses for byob drinks and were informed they would be right out. We waited over ten minutes and not one employee checked on us, we received no water, no menus, no glasses. Meanwhile, additional tables were seated and received menus, a waitress, waters, and additional beverages. We ended up leaving without ever having an employee check in on us and received the general “I’m so sorry” from the waitress we told about the situation as we were leaving. As I was writing this review, we received a missed phone call from the establishment and upon calling back, we’re told “I don’t know why you would have received a phone call.” Update: The hostess or owner/hostess (unsure if she was both) contacted us and offered a voucher for our party to try again. As disappointing as the experience was, Sophia’s did reach out and try to make it right. That is most certainly appreciated.
