Rockpool Bar & Grill

We went here for my husband's 30th birthday dinner. Service was adequate although chops and beef were less cooked than I usually prefer. Had to send it back but was yummy after it was well done. Dessert was probably the best out of the whole menu for the evening. The banana ice cream was exquisite. Nice ambiance, good quality worth the price, not overly great though. Worth a visit.

RESTAURANT ATTEMPTS TO RIP OFF CUSTOMERS WITH BOGUS SURCHARGES. Food bill came out to be $102 and there was a $12 service fee added on top. Which didn't really make sense so I approached the front desk to seek clarification. Initially the cashier claimed that they had subtracted $12 then added $12 so amount should be correct. She grabbed the waitress that served me who corroborated this story. They suggested bringing out the manager to "explain to you what service fee is". I made them aware that I understand what it was but the figures made no sense. The manager comes out and starts pointing at the menu in a patronizing manner (acting like I did not read). Which states that weekday fee is 5% and weekend 10%. I explained to him that 10% of $102 is not $12. And even if it was I dined on weekday which should be 5%. Notwithstanding the above, the cashier and waitress claimed that they had deducted the $12 to equalize the bill. The manager went "Oooooh I see what you are saying now". Please train your team in numeracy skills before charging service fees. Quite frankly it is embarrassing that 3 staff members including one manager cannot solve a basic maths problem - especially in an institution such as Rockpool. We had Caviar with Toast and Creme Fraiche (Ars Italica Osietra 30g), Buratta with Eggplant Carpaccio and Grilled Bread, Whole Grilled King Prawns with Herb Butter, Potato and Cabbage Gratin, Scotch Fillet and Rib Eye on the Bone 400g 61 days. The service was immaculate and the meat was absolutely divine. Probably the best I've ever had. Highly recommend and worth the price.

$89 for a chewy 36 month old dry aged rib eye. I complained to the staff and spoke to the "resolutions manager" who gave me attitude and asked "if it was so tough why did I eat so much of it". I was compensated with complimentary dessert and coffee but it ruined my whole dining experience. I went there for steak, not dessert.

Has an old world 80’s charm and setting. Reminds me of these high end lunch places in India, my family used to take me to when I was a kid. The staff is great! The service is quite fast paced considering they are a grill restaurant. We ordered steak and one of the pork dishes with garlic. Both dishes were beautifully crafted for our palates and preferences! They did not take any half measures even on the kids menu. The Bolognese from the kids menu was superb. The meat used for the pasta was of great quality and was generously served. The desserts were good too. Although, the pavlova was huge in portion size and was served mistakenly to us. The staff made sure to not charge us for their mistake.

An expensive yet excellent experience. The venue ooses comfortable class from the moment of entry. The table service was friendly and efficient. The steaks were tender and cooked as ordered. The sides were beautifully presented. The drinks list is extensive. The wines range from reasonable prices to obscene with good selections from many wine countries and regions. A great experience.
