Belgian Beer Cafe

Bar beer in the heart of south bank. It’s a good plan coming here: first walking in the surroundings of the river side, vibrant colorful area. I walked just a few meters towards the inside of the river quay, to take a picture to that gorgeous building with an art bee honeycomb on the facade, and we found this nice bar. Even though the inside looks a bit like the pokies, it’s a good place to stop and grab a bite. There’s a quite fair tap beer options, but if you want an original Belgium beer, it’s bottled , only an Stella on the tap. I went for the Redhead IPA on tap, and I wasn’t disappointed at all, delicious strong flavors. Prices are fair, friendly staff, good quality food, I had the Belgian steak sandwich. ( I spent $37 in total ). If you prefer outdoors, they have a nice terrace to sit and see people pass. Yes, I want to come back and I recommend you to try this place.

I’ve been eating and drinking my way through the menu for years - and I always love the ambience, drinks and food! Top pics are muscles, pork knuckle, and a killer sharing platter! Beers are top notch too with a solid range of Belgian beers, a great range of local craft beers and a well selected wine list too. Staff are always friendly and helpful. All in all consistently a great experience.

I have been a big fan of the BBC ever since I lived in Dubai, so I was happy to find out that they have a branch here. I expected to find Kriek lambic, but sadly they didn't have it, so we opted for Leffe Blonde and Leffe Brune. We also ordered the following food: - Chefs Victorian Grazing Plate - beef bresaola, cacciatore, char-grilled spicy bratwurst, char-grilled mild weisswurst, maffra stockmans choice cheshire aged cheddar, house marinated mt zero olives, water crackers, and caper berries ($35). - Fries & Mayonnaise ($10) We loved the grazing plater but were disappointed with the fries, as there was nothing Belgian about them! They were supposed to be thick-cut, but all we got was the usual thin fries you get at regular places. Despite that, we keep coming back for the beer and are now a big fan of the Hoegaarden Wheat Beer, as it's generally on a discounted rate. It's an expensive beer place, but a great experience and friendly, helpful staff.

Very delicious food in a nice setting with very friendly people at the restaurant. We had the Pork Knuckle, the 1kg Mussel Pots Roquefort with blue cheese, cream, and spinach sauce, and the Chicken Parmigiana. The Peel Knuckle skin is very crispy and is large enough for 2 people. The Chicken Parmigiana is very nice but the fries stole the show being well seasoned and remaining crispy long into the dinner. The cheese sauce with the mussel pot is just right, tasty without being too overpowering with tender mussels that were cooked just right.

Being a homebrewer I was excited to try some Belgians. Was a bit disappointed with selection though to be honest - seemed to have a couple of tripples and a couple of wheat beers - one of which is commonly available in supermarkets so in all 3 to try for the conniseur I suppose. Else the usual selection of coopers etc. I've been to bars in Belgium and didn't really think it was an accurate representation - but I'm being picky here - for most folks it's a nice place - kind of like Hard Rock Cafe but without the music stuff on the walls. It was probably the time of day I went, but there was an unusual number of single men in their 50's sitting around the place staring at us. Either that or I forgot to take my meds. Not bad for a quick pint, but not in my top 10. Try it though!
