Left Bank Melbourne

A great place just next to Yarra River. Nice ambience. Staff is very helpful and cheerful. The service is quite fast. The outdoor seating with a view of city across the river is amazing. If you like vegetarian food, do try grilled Broccoli. Salt n pepper Calamari is a must. If you like beer, try Furphy crisp lager. If you like cocktails, Charlie Chaplin is a recommended one.

Amazing venue, great for a catch-up, dinner and celebration. First time dinning at Left Bank was on Sunday the 15th, Sophie was our waiter and she was bloody amazing. Wonderful service, always smiling and made sure we were okay. I came back to dine again today hoping to see her because her service was amazing, unfortunately it was her day off. It’s those type of service that makes you feel like you’re at home, and you have a feel like you belong there. Speed of the service will vary based on how busy the venue is, so I recommend ordering some drinks while waiting for your meal. Overall, amazing experience and will be coming back again for the oyster, it’s a must try!

The outdoor seating at the restaurant had a good view. We got a seat quickly and the hostess and wait staff were very friendly, helpful and cheerful. The waiter went to double check my order was Gluten Free everytime I asked when a dish came out. The wine selection is extensive and organized by types like light aromatic, whites with texture etc 😊 They have a very extensive bar menu which is great! The Arancini cakes were so tasty and best of all Gluten Free! The calamari too was yummm and well cooked and crumb fried with Gluten free crumbs. The Pork and Beef mains were well cooked and the sauces were flavourful. The salted caramel Torte being Gluten Free was a pleasant surprise. Overall a great place for views and good Gluten Free food!

Update (8 June 22): I promised to these guys that I'll be back soon. And I was there today for a lunch with a colleague. John made us comfortable right under a heater as it was a very cold day. Thanks John! I ordered the same dish that I ordered two weeks back: a large plate of Snapper. Why the same dish while I could order a different Friday? Well, how do you find out about the consistency of a meal then? I was certainly impressed. Everything else that we ordered including the side dish of kalamari (OMG! That's a must try!), The chips (don't order if you are on diet. They are irresistible.), and the prawn spaghettini were absolutely delicious. So, the experience was once again excellent. Another word for John & Vince - I noticed that they were looking after all patrons equally and seemed genuinely interested in making it a good experience for all. Thank you again John and Vince! Ruby: thank you for being super responsive. No doubt why you guys are top notch. -------------------------------------- I usually do not have high hopes for good service and tasty food at restaurants which are too crowded. Left Bank surprised me on my visit yesterday. I went there with a group of my colleagues. When we reached the restaurant, we were greeted and welcomed. We had more people than the number a table was reserved, and the restaurant manager quickly arranged for additional chairs and tables to accommodate us. When staff are laughing with you, that's a sign of good hospitality and their own sense of service. A plus! Drinks service was super fast. You order through a QR code at your table, which is a convenient way to ensure you get the right order. Although personally I do not like to share my information. Food: Entrees were quickly served. Broccoli never disappoints me, but sadly the grilled/lightly roasted broccoli tasted bland. A hint of salt or some sauce can transform it. For mains, I ordered Snapper and my goodness, I never had such a delicious snapper before! The combination of potatoes, crab, spices and sauce was amazing. Kudos to the Chef! My colleagues enjoyed their meals too. Vibe: Left Bank has a welcoming, upbeat vibe. And I guess a lot of it is because of its serving staff. They all seemed busy yet happy. A smile makes all the difference, isn't it? Ambiance is great. I loved the decor and how the seating arrangement has been made which leaves enough room for people to roam around or sit comfortably. I will be back! ;)

Had a nice birthday dinner at Left Bank. It was pretty busy but our orders came out quickly. Really liked the steak, the ceviche and the mocktail. Staff were nice and approachable in general. I had 2 additional guests from what was originally booked, talked to the manager (I think it was) the afternoon prior to our dinner and he assisted in updating the booking though it was super busy already so really appreciated that. A bit disappointed though at the lack of communication as we were chased out by a staff who thought we were trying to run away with an outstanding bill when one of my friends was still inside paying for it at the bar counter. Embarassing to say the least and did sour the mood.
