ORDERED 🐟 Saikyo-yaki: Grilled white miso marinated white fish garnished with Yuzu powder, saikyo-yaki is classic Japanese Miso marinade grilling recipe ($13.00) 🍄 Grilled Mixed Japanese Mushrooms: Grilled Japanese mushrooms with garlic miso butter in foil ($10.00) 🍚 Una Don (grilled eel rice bowl): Grilled eel fillets glazed and drizzled with soy-based sauce marinated in soy mirin texture on rice nad comes with avocado, shredded Nori, chilli threads and wasabi on top. Fresh water eel is rich in vitamins, DHA fatty acids, minerals and proteins ($22.00) REVIEW: This was only some of the food we had. For just under $40pp, we were filled up and had 2 entrees, 2 mains and 1 dessert. An absolute steal especially when we felt like we could roll out of the restaurant. I come back multiple times a year, and I always order the Grilled Mixed Japanese Mushrooms. There's something so wonderful about buttered mushrooms - would highly recommend this dish. The flavour really develops while being in the oven, creating this aromatic and soft creamy mushroom taste that I love. Definitely worthwhile! Love Wayo and always bring my friends around if they want to eat something close to where I'm at.

WAYO Japanese Dining is a hidden gem in the heart of Flemington. The restaurant is so unassuming. Everything about it is so nonchalant, unpretentious, understated and elegant. The staff are attentive and friendly. The sweet young boy who served us impressively spoke fluent Japanese. We love a polyglot King!! The food was incredible and affordable. I'm stunned, shocked and bewildered at how amazingly low key this place is. You need a write up on Broadsheet, somebody call the editor!! Thank you so much for the 15 out of 10 delicious meal. We simply j'adore and you best believe we'll be coming back from now until the end of time.
