Cafe Verona

Wandering through the amazing Queen Victoria Markets picking up lots of fresh fruit and veg before stumbling upon the Italian @CafeVerona.QVM where I picked up Sicilian Donuts and Ricotta Cheesecake. The donuts are soft and pillowey, a slight crunch, dusted with enough sugar without being too sweet, the dough has a lovely lemon flavour which elevates these donuts to next level. As for the baked cheesecake, wow, so yum. I should have read reviews before ordering! Asked for an iced latte. Looked ok until I took a sip and found it was all ice with minimal milk. A total rip off! I wondered why the service was so surly - I guess that in order to feel good about gouging you need to despise your customers. At least they seem to be consistent!

Came in just as they were opening at 730. Staff were friendly (the gentleman serving us had an exceptionally calming demeanor). Ordered a chai latte, espresso, breakfast tart, and mini pancakes with berries and ice cream. Everything was amazing! Chai wasn’t overly sweet (which was lovely), the tart was crispy and warm (think croissant style bread) and the filling was just the right ratio (spinach, tomato, mushroom, egg), the pancakes were a little sweet bc of the ice cream but the tart berries balanced them out perfectly. Highly recommend and will crave this for a long time!

They have a coffee machine and a barista, however my iced long black was made with just coffee syrup instead. The price of it was more expensive than Soul Origin that do authentic iced long blacks for just $5. Coffee syrup means the taste was awful too. Dissapointed seeing as most other items on the menu had an italian authencity to it.
