The Amberoom

Came down to the bar at around 1745 on Friday 11JAN19. It was a fair crowd in for afternoon drinks and whilst at the bar I noticed a young female bartender serving whilst receiving directives from the manager on duty, the female bartender greeted us and said she will be right with us as she was pouring beer for other customers. Meanwhile, the manager continued to plunge glasses right in front of us for the dishwasher whilst giving further directives to glass collecting staff whilst completely ignoring us (the customers) that were standing in front of him! 2 minutes later he decided to serve us and was quite abrupt and also snatched the drink vouchers out of my hand. The bar is quite elegant and has good vibes with a noisy atmosphere but first impressions count most, the manager on duty certainly gave us a sour first impression. The most basic hospitality rule in the book is when you see a customer waiting to be served you drop what you are doing and serve, NEVER ignore customers especially in-house guests. I was actually shocked that he continued to ignore us whilst plunging the glasses right in front of us. I am not inpatient by any means but my pet hate is being ignored! Big thumbs up to the female bartender who greeted us whilst serving with a smile, you could teach your manager a thing or two. This will also feature in the overall review of the hotel stay.
