Sushi Chef was OK - went for a quick dinner. The sushi was good and it was presented well. There was just not really much of an ambience at all and the service was virtually non-existent. But I think it would be good for takeaway - the atmosphere isn't very inviting so if you did takeaway food, you can eat it at a more comfortable location.

I'm not a regular customer but recently dropped in here for the first time for lunch. I tried the sushi/sashimi platter and enjoyed it. The Salmon and Tuna sashimi was very fresh and delicious, and to boot, very reasonably priced. The staff is super friendly and efficient. All round, Sushi Chef is great value for a fast food meal.

Excellent Japanese food on Clarendon St. Chicken and fish tasted fresh and the wasabi shot out of my head :). Lots of sushi options as well apart from the delicious curries and don

Sorry but the 4.9 review is very inaccurate.
This place is just another average sushi restaurant with less variety than most places.
The soya sauce provided is also regular soya sauce and not the sushi type so it's extra salty.
Prices are above average for what they offer.
My nigiri deluxe box was $17 for 8 standard pieces of nigiri.

Really beautiful quality seafoods with reasonable price!!!! Rolls are thick with ingredients and sashimi pieces are tick as well. The best Japanese experience in Melbourne when comparing price per both qlt/qty.

Excellent quality sushi at reasonable prices. The Maki rolls are packed with fish (not rice) and well worth the price. Hand rolls are also very good.

Sushi Chef's sushi has to be some of the best in South Melbourne. I've been a regular customer for a while.
Their quality is fantastic and pretty reasonably priced. They do phone ordering so you can order then pick it up.
Highly recommended for the sushi lover.
