Been to this place twice both horrible experiences. Today I arrived with what I knew was pneumonia (had 3 negative covid rat tests). I have been incredibly sick for 7 days and because I had a cough they refused to see me and made me sit outside. I waited 20 minutes and received a phone call when I needed to be seen for my chest to be listened to and my ears to I be checked and I was completely dismissed and was given antibiotics when my symptoms weren’t even listened to. I was told because I have a cough I can’t be seen but I wasn’t told that when I arrived. I needed to be examined and they were incredibly negligent. Communication is terrible and the doctors are terrible. I was in tears in pain this morning and the pharmacy down the road was of significant more help and actually listened, checked my ears and my temp unlike the doctors at the clinic. Highly recommend staying far away from this joint

Very long waiting time for a 15 minute checkup (Almost an hour). Made me pay full price twice for a less than 5 minute checkup, when I scheduled for a 15, just to tell me to get a blood test for the first one and take supplements on the second. Probably will not come back even if it’s convenient.

Never had any problems here, despite the high pressure on staff at times. I love the cultural mix here from reception, nurses, right through to the drs. I sometimes think bad reviews are the result of cultural misunderstandings and high pressure situations . They all have a tough job on their hands, and i appreciate all they try to achieve especially under recent pandemic conditions. Dr.Rijad is our family dr and is so reliable, knowledgeable , and caring. Offers us comforting follow through when needed. He's the best 👍👍👍

Circa May 2022, NZ at the time required all to have a pre-departure COVID test and a fit-to-fly clearance letter for those, like my dad, who have recently recovered from COVID and would likely return a positive result. My father was assessed by our local GP who deemed him clinically well but refused to clear him purely because of positive result. Multiple GPs around my area refused to assess him at the mere mention of the result. Mel, the receptionist, gave me time and a listening ear while I explained my situation. Dr. Ciaran Laughlin understood our situation having had prior experience with other patients and agreed to assess my dad. Thank you Mel and Dr. Laughlin.

Reception staff were lovely, but I would avoid Dr Ling Zheng. The rudest GP I have ever dealt with, especially while in extreme pain and barely able to talk, and kept having a go at me for not going to my normal GP. If you aren't accepting new clients then don't let them book?

My elderly, disabled mother had the worst experience at this practice and after contacting them with some very serious complaints, they haven't even bothered to respond to me. I'll now be progressing the complaint to AHPRA and Health Complaints Commissioner. My mum has had the name Dr for 30 years and he's recently retired. She has a range of debilitating illnesses that cause her severe pain, however she still travelled to this Clinic as she thought she had found a new Doctor who she had described to me as "caring" and "willing to help her", and so I arranged for medical records to be sent from her old clinic to this one. Last Friday I was mortified to hear about the experience she had had when she visited again; She had confused her appointment time thinking it was 11.30am instead of 11am, however after the Clinic phoned her and told her to still come in, she arrived at 11.15am and was told to take a seat. 45 minutes later a staff member approached her in the middle of the waiting room to tell her she would not be seen, not at that time or ever again. Aside from how disgusting it is to make an elderly, disabled woman wait for that period of time just to be sent away, i'm concerned about a number of other serious points here: 1. Breach of Privacy Laws from South Melbourne Family Practice by discussing her medical condition and medications with Administration staff, who then discussed it in the middle of the waiting room in front of other patients. 2. Breach of Duty of Care from both South Melbourne Family Practice and Dr Ciaran Laughlin who refused to see her, after already having had an initial consultation. What kind of Medical Practitioner refuses to treat someone simply because it's too much trouble? Especially someone in my mothers condition and age bracket. This certainly doesn't encompass his "inclusive clinical practice" described on their website. 3. Breach of almost every point outlined in the Medical Board of Australia's Code of Conduct. 4. Negligence. She was sent away without having any alternative medical practitioner to assist her - they essentially told her to leave knowing she had no other care at the time and no way to get the required medication she needs. 5. Medical Discrimination. The clinic will not see her based purely on her illnesses, she's "too much work". 6. Conduct. As mentioned, after raising the above concerns with the practice they haven't even bothered to respond (despite me specifically asking for a response) so i thought i'd leave this review so others can see how disgraceful they are. I'll pursue this through the relevant bodies now.

Expensive appointments for below standard care. Long waits for appointments, over a month wait for urgent documents that were requested 4 times!! Terribly organised, no one seems to know where anything is or what needs to be done. No communication whatsoever about GPs leaving and being left with no doctor you know. No communication on payment, obtaining files or referrals. Save yourself the trouble and go to a bulk billing practice.
