Smoke & Mirrors - Bbq & Bar

There’s something about Smoke and Mirrors that transports you to a different time and place. Once you’re through the door you’re greeted with a beautifully designed, dandy and industrial interior that has the right amount of old school trinkets that are so at home in a steakhouse, but here feel more elevated. The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgable and come and ask if anything is needed at the right intervals to not be too invasive and just let you enjoy the experience. The chef even came to the table to check if everything was well received and was very mindful of allergies. The food. Oh my god the food. The beef dripping chips and the blue cheese burger was the best patty and fries I have ever eaten. I’m still thinking about it a day later. It was cooked and balanced to perfection to highlight all the flavours. And if cocktails are your thing, you should go here just for that, as they were delicious and paired very well with the food. I can’t recommend Smoke and Mirrors enough, or more highly. If you want good food, good service and a great atmosphere, don’t look anywhere else.

Great establishment! With great staff like Urte and Chris the divine chef, my dining experience was one to remember, the great wagyu brisket was tender with the perfect amount of fat went splendidly with my many drinks like the noteworthy Manuka margarita and white chocolate martini. The manager Gary created an environment of comfort and warmth. A truly great experience

Went for a meal with my partner and we weren’t disappointed. We got the Sunday sharer with a free drink included! Loving the decor and the vibe at this place. The food was gorgeous, with a BBQ twist to a Sunday dinner. Very individual and it works! Totally recommend! Staff are so friendly and can’t do enough for customers.

Absolutely gorgeous food, sauces and drinks! I had the loaded sweet potato vegan dish. It was delicious, nutritious and felt so wholesome to eat this amazing lunch. Great price too. I loved tasting the house made sauces and drink selection. Highly recommend going for lunch, also great place to work from too - take laptop and hot desk with a beautiful atmosphere!

You will not get brisket like this anywhere else… Insane that we’ve got such a good BBQ place like this in Teesside, won’t be long until people are travelling just to get their BBQ meat fix. I would tell you about the beef cheek but I want to make sure there’s some left for me when I go back. Ridiculously good. Cocktails are as good as you will find anyway in the world, just look at the photos, up there for taste and originality with the likes of The Alchemist in Manchester, The Chandelier Bar in Vegas, Tattu in Leeds, without the city price tag. This Foodie heaven will give any BBQ or Cocktail bar a run for its money, you will not be disappointed. Can’t wait to go back to try the Sunday dinner next!
