Basil Thai Bistro

Mmmmm. Thai food. I love Thai food, and this place came highly recommended to us by friends. I was looking through their website as we waited for our food, and what I love about them is that they are family-owned (yay! Local!), and they've been around for about 35 years! Best of all, they had at least two of my favorite dishes I've ordered from other Thai restaurants! The other thing I love about this place is that they actually use fresh Thai peppers for spice instead of the dried (I prefer the fresh, I think it gives the dish more flavor that way). A word of caution: if you think white pepper is too spicy, you may want to stick to something no hotter than medium.....unless you're congested, then, by all means, order the Thai hot. For me, between medium and hot was just right!

Ordered two days in a row; disappointed both times mostly due to price. We ordered basil fried rice the first day and Pad Thai the second day. Both days the chicken was very overcooked/dry. The flavor for the fried rice was good, but it lacked the amount of basil leaves that I was used to from different Thai restaurants. The Pad Thai's chicken was also very over-done and my wife's Pad Thai was very, very bland and lacked almost all of the flavor that my fish of Pad Thai had. Price was extremely high for fairly disappointing food and portions that didn't seem to add-up to the asking price (over $30 both days for two meals). If the meals were $9 a piece and not $16, I wouldn't have had much to complain about. The price asked made me expect much higher quality food.

Only one complaint noted last on list, why 4 of 5 not 5 of 5 I have been looking for a good place to get Beef Pho and Drunken Noodle since I moved to the area. Food: Thai Basil Bistro was exactly was I was looking for as far as the Drunken Noodle. The pho was good but I did not care for the meatballs, also did not come with jalapeños, if you like some of those in your pho as well. Service: Also called for a takeout order at around 2pm and was told it would be almost an hour and a half wait for pickup, was totally worth the wait. Value and expectations: My only complaint about my experience was that I ordered the Sampler Tray appetizer which was supposed to come with fresh rolls but when I arrived to pickup my order there was a sign that they were unable to make fresh rolls, unfortunately no one informed me know when I plaved my order over the phone. Unfortunately I did not get anything in place of or more of the other items already included. We got 2 Thai chicken wings, 2 spring rolls and 2 crab wontons. (supposed to serve 3 to 4 for 20.75 my order served 2). Otherwise would be 5 stars.

The food here was very authentic! I grew up in Asia and I really enjoyed the food here. I will definitely be back. The service was great as well. It was a very relaxing atmosphere and my wife and I really enjoyed our date here. If you are looking for authentic Thai food or just something good to eat this is the place to go!

Always have loved the food here. They have a very wide menu to choose from. The food is spicy and flavorful. Almost everything I've tasted is good. The ambience is good, servers are great and respectful. Their sticky rice with Mango is very good. Ambience is great, quantity is very good. I love the spice level too, can be a little extra for the wee ones. ;)
