Tomatino's Pizza And Bake Shop

I just wanted to leave a review of how awesome our dinner was tonight. We drove 15 minutes from our hotel to pick up pizzas and then ordered their blueberry/white chocolate bread pudding. It was delicious! We love finding local pizzas vs. chain places, and the added dessert was a bonus! It was definitely worth the drive. The beautiful homes were also nice to see. Thank you for sharing your culinary expertise with a great community. I wish we could have sat outside and enjoyed the ambiance as well, but we had to get back to the hotel. Sent from my iPhone

The interior has a rather stark, industrial-looking interior but the food is good. We had house salads which had lettuce, olives, cheese, tomato, and white onion. The orange vinaigrette dressing is excellent. The pizza's crust is crispy and not tough. The toppings are generous. I rated it four stars because the service was spotty. Our server disappeared for long periods and then would suddenly reappear when the other server started to wait on us.

Tonight was my the first time in since they moved from the Fairview (didn't know they were in the new place until last night). I made a dine in order 617pm and sat down. 10 to 7 I went to the counter and asked about my order and an associate brought it out, boxed to go. When I told him it was a dine in there he just asked "You want me to get you some plates?", no apology for their mistake, no offer to remake the food which had been cooling in boxes for at least 20 minutes, no apparent concern at all. I just took the food, told him I wasn't impressed with what happened to which he just shrugged and walked away. So now, instead of enjoying a nice night out enjoying good atmosphere and food, I'm at home eating reheated pizza (the cheesesticks did not microwave well and were tossed) and wondering how long it'll be before I go back again.

Wonderful pizza with a side of acceptable service. I have been a fan of this place longer than a decade and since I first started going the service had usually been good but never great. The pizza however has always been excellent (though in my opinion it doesn't travel or reheat well). In it's new location it lacks the hole in the wall charm it used to have but kept the art. I would recommend trying it and forming your own opinion and ignoring what constitutes mine.

On the way home we stopped in for lunch at Tomatino’s. What a treat! We found the cafe bright and cheery from all the large windows, the staff welcoming, efficient and very personable, (I think our waiter was Austin), the decor tastefully minimal. I ordered the garden salad, described as having “premium” vegetables/ingredients. Their description was spot on. It was a huge salad (which is what I love) consisting of several high quality greens, both red and white onions, black and green natural olives (so buttery in texture/flavor), roma tomato slices, banana peppers, mushroom slices, tiny broccoli flowerets, capers - I know I must be leaving out some things that made this salad a star, but you get the picture. It was literally the BEST salad I have gotten out in years, and I eat a lot of salads. My husband got the medium vegetable pizza, without cheese. The chef completely LOADED on the delicious veggies we vegans crave, yet somehow managed to produce a delicious, crispy crust. Must be a magician because putting on lots of plant matter, but no cheese, has a tendency to produce a somewhat soggy crust. Not at Tomatino’s. Apparently they understand how to think outside the box and serve delicious food to vegans, even one who is gluten free. Oh, and their iced tea is brewed fresh every morning, something not everyone is doing these days. Of course, they serve cheese/meat, and from the looks of the food on tables around us, they do an excellent job with that too. We just truly appreciate Tomatino’s taking the time to go the extra mile to accommodate a couple of plant-based, health minded people like us. Thanks, Tomatino’s for fueling us for the last leg of our trip home. We will be back any time we are in the area. Kudos.

I enjoy Tomatinos. The pizza, beer and service are exceptional, and the location takes it to the next level. Close to downtown and in the heart of Old Cloverdale's Historical District — it's convenient and feels like home. Not to mention it shares space with one of the best coffee shops and bakeries in Montgomery. Stop by Tomatinos the next time you are in the area. You will not regret it.
