Garden Lake Chinese Restaurant

So, I was honestly not expecting this place to be good. My husband and I were looking for a good Chinese restaurant, because our favorite one shut down, and just happened to stumble upon this jewel. Atmosphere: Very nice and calm. White tablecloths, nice glass drinking glasses, everything had its place. The music was soft and gentle to where you knew it was there, but could also forget it was playing. Food: I ordered the special wonton soup and man was it not only full of flavor but so DELICIOUS! My husband ordered the sweet and sour chicken and he really enjoyed it! Staff: the staff was so friendly and attentive. The hostess was also our waitress and she was great. Overall: a very surprising, friendly and family oriented restaurant and we will be going back.

The food is...OK. We were actually served by the owner and she was very friendly. I would guess 90% of their business us take out or delivery. We were almost alone in the restaurant, but there was a constant stream of people coming up to pick up. Sweet and sour chicken was quite good. Mongolian beef, not so much. Fried rice and egg rolls pretty good. Not much ambiance. It seems everywhere you sit, you view people in and out of the kitchen.

Just called for delivery and was told by the lady on the phone it has to be a minimum of $15 for delivery which I completely understand. My meal only came out to $10 and some change so I told her to go ahead and just charge me the $5 more. She refused and said it was policy not to do that. I didn’t want to order food that I wasn’t going to eat. I guess losing business is more important than keeping a repeat customer.

Used to be a pretty good place & we ate here & had delivered on a regular bases. Unfortunately, the quality of food declined. The last straw was when I called for delivery, which had always been free, & was told that for my location there was a minimum $30 order AND an additional delivery charge. Apparently 3.9 miles is now outside of their free delivery area.
