Great restaurant, nice and motivated staffs. The restaurant was full and under-staffed but the staffs work so hard and so quickly. We had a great night. Food was amazing, very price/quantity friendly. Overall I recommand it and I will come back.

The host guy provides literary the best service you can have in any restaurant, he is so friendly, so kind, efficient and remembers your name perfectly all 3 times!
Food is incredible, even better French food I’ve had than in Paris, we had ravioli, shrimp risotto and the baba for desert it’s insanely good. Makes me wanna come back to try every single dish they have, I’m sure they perfected it since they open in 1980s.
Will bring my parents here

This meal is definitely one of my favourites. My wife and I came here for her birthday lunch and we’ll definitely be back.
We had the roasted quail, the veal carpaccio and the house made ravioli.
Everything was executed beautifully and the service was beyond friendly. We instantly felt welcomed. Our server did a great job making recommendations and we were incredibly happy with them.

One of the best gastronomical experiences I’ve ever had in Canada. The steak was unparalleled, but what really stood out was the service - the sommelier was extremely knowledgeable and attentive, and found us the best wine pairing. Overall the staff is super professional and know what they’re doing. I recommend this place to all my friends who travel to Montreal, it’s a must-try

Service was quick and attentive. Free bread and pickles come with your meal too! (pickles are amazing) Portions are good, pricing is what I expected from a French Bistro. The duck confit was a little on the too salty side, tho the mashed potatoes were amazing.

Would return, would recommend.
Nice design, prompt service and good food. I can see why this is one of the most recommended restaurants in all of Montreal.
Duck is a standout. Perfect crispy skin, tender, moist meat. Large portion. Smooth mash and savoury jus.
Fries are amazing. Perfect. Comes with the tartare.
Beef Tartare was par. It wasn't super delicious, but it was very fresh with a great texture. Felt like it was missing something though. Good portion.
Quail was good. Sauce was missing something. Rice was nicely done. Passable.
A jar of pickles is presented on seating, with quick bread refills. Pickles are legit super amazing.
They should soften the butter instead of having it come straight from the fridge.
Takes AMEX.

Been coming here since I was a young adult, love the food, the "french-bistro" atmosphere... The steak-frites was very delicious and the steak so tender! The special appetizer I had, ceviché, scallops with fresh strawberries, some little hot peppers and a touch of green was sooo fresh and sooo good! Merci!

Restaurant l'Express is a restaurant after my own heart. I grew up with French parents in Chicago and ate at restaurants like this in the 1960s and 70s in France all the time. It always feels very nostalgic coming here. The staff is great, the service is great, good wine list - both of them, the menu has everything I want. The food is mostly good. I love the steak frites, confit, chicken liver parfait, etc. They do the classics well. What I thought was lacking was their ravioli and their kataifi wrapped goat cheese. The ravioli is filled with meat in basically a demi glace with some mushrooms. I wish they had made more a broth based sauce with herbs they would have tasted better. The goat cheese idea was genius but the execution was only ok. When I was a chef of a provencale restaurant I used to use kataifi a lot. The part I like the best is when the extruded threads of dough are mixed with some kind of fat (olive oil, butter) and baked they turned seriously crispy. That is part of the appeal. In my head I was imagining a crunchy exterior and a creamy goat cheese interior. What we got was partially cooked kataifi that was kind of soggy. Love this place and that won't stop me from returning. Just a heads up to the talented chef.
