Restaurant Le Speakeasy

Wild vibe. Very nice atmosphere. It is a pretty small place. I did really like the ethically sourced food and what's in season. I feel like most restaurants should function like this. The plates are to share and that's awesome cuz sometimes you can't choose. It's nice to choose together as be eat together.

Amazing experience! The staff was welcoming, friendly, very attentive to our every needs and helpful. They know their menu and offer great advice. Overall a very good place to eat in the old port (lovely area of Montreal). As for the prices, you definitely get what you pay for in my opinion (the tomahawk was very tasty and great to split with friends).

We found this place by going to the ice cream shop attached. Amazing experience! The staff is very attentive. The food and cocktails are phenomenal. The menus are in various books. It has an old-times vibe. We got the cheese plate which had three different cheeses. It is a large appetizer and had a good variety of hard and soft cheese. We would definitely come back to this place!

I had an amazing night at Le Speakeasy. The decor , the atmosphere and the service was impeccable! We came for the free bubbles for ladies and 1$ oysters , but we also ordered drinks and the large charcuterie platter. The charcuterie platter was delicious , especially the liver paté with maple syrup. As for the oysters , they had a lot of grit and were not as clean as I would’ve like. They are 1$ though so... They also had a wide variety of cocktails which were delicious. Overall great “hidden” spot to go to!

I'm baffled by the good ratings... the food is bland and overpriced. We had the mahi-mahi ($32) and the tuna tataki ($36). The tuna was a major disappointment. It was a simple salad composed of baby spinach, cold rice noodles topped with 5 strips of tuna and 3 rice/cheese balls. The service was very slow - we got our plates 1 hour after we arrived. Cocktails are fine. There's nothing spectacular about this place. I guess the hype comes from trying to locate the entrance. Pretty easy: the restaurant's signage is outside and you just need to go into that ice cream shop next door. The hostess will open a refrigerator door and voilà! As for the decor... remember the Moe's taverns/restaurants. That's it. Green walls with old pictures and books everywhere.

4.5 stars for customer service,our waiter did a good job. 3 stars for food. The marrow leaked grease all over the table and all over my pants( should have come on a plate and not a cutting board). Mahi mahi in banana leaf,what an amazing idea...was good but not enough flavour(except the ginger flavour). For my taste,it need it something sweet( peanut sauce/maple syrup sauce,sweet garlic sauce). The duck was chewy(raw duck always is). We had well cooked duck before and was melting in your mouth. We asked for the duck to be cooked well and the waiter pushed the recommendation to be cooked rare so my husband got some chewy rare cooked duck.

Dayuuuum! Discovered this place thanks to Mtl A Table and so happy I did! Everything about this place is great! Each course was more delicious than the next -get the braised short ribs with korean bbq sauce...that sauce though!! Oh my god that sauce!- not to mention the service was really fantastic! Added bonus- the chef made one plate too many of an entree and they offered it to us on the house (ummm yes please! *points to mouth- food goes in here!) So in conclusion food GOOD, ambiance GOOD, service GOOD...just go!!
