L'evidence

The food is good. Service is fast. We liked it and regularly went to brunch (and sometimes dinner). It was a good experience, up until the waitress felt the need to broadcast to my husband (and everyone on the nearby tables) my poor command of the English and French language. Pretty obvious comment in my opinion since we are (duh) NOT from Canada (she asked us about it on our first visit months ago). AND we are here to study things like... Surprise, surprise! ENGLISH AND FRENCH. Crazy, eh? For your information: I'm a woman with severe social anxiety aggravated by the pandemic. It takes me a few seconds to find my words when I'm in public AND interacting with strangers. So you may understand how particularly painful this kind of non solicited remark is for me. I don't mind making an effort to contribute with casual conversation. It's the polite thing to do, and usually, the waiter/waitress it's only trying to make you feel welcome. So, I smile (except when food is in my mouth, cause, you know, that's rude) and respond, but sometimes it may take like 15 to 30 seconds to overcome my issues. It is that unbearable? It has never been a problem before here in Montreal. About our behaviour on the restaurant: We don't make loud noises. Nor do we occupy the tables for a long time after finishing the food. I don't recall ever making weird requests to the kitchen or waitresses. Neither yelling or exhibiting any Karen type demeanor. So, I'm still trying to wrap my mind around WHY in Pete's name she felt the need to make that particular comment. I don't appreciate being given opinions about my person I didn't ask. I don't think anyone does. So, yeah, I don't think we are coming back.

A very nice place with a great potential to become a staple venue in the area. Unfortunately our experience was a significant disappointment. THE PROS: - The receptionist was very polite and pleasant to communicate with. She found us a place to our liking in only a few moments, and made sure we're comfortable. - The menu is very appealing and opens up the appetite, with items on the menu that I haven't found in many terraces in the area. THE CONS: - The food we received was unfortunately not in line with the menu. A fruit bowl for 10$ had a piece of apple, two pieces of orange, a third of a banana, one strawberry and 6 grapes... - the coffee was sub par, especially in comparison to the coffee served on most terraces within the vicinity. - the fries were yesterday's fries reheated, dripping in oil and stale - one of our orders came missing half of the ingredients, and the eggs were watered down - the quantity of one of the orders was very little, not enough to spread on half of the bagel it came with. - the food took quite some time to come to the table given that the place wasn't crowded. It's unfortunate that such a nice place with lots of potential wouldn't have a better quality and quantity of food, especially that the prices are rather expensive for the offer.
