Tran Cantine Vietnamienne

Great place for dine-in and takeout! I called ahead for a group of 12 because our initial plan didn't follow through and they accommodated us so well for such a last minute thing (with kids and a baby!) and for being a small resto with limited seating. Food was fresh and delicious - elevating the classic Vietnamese dishes we all know and love with their ingredients and presentation. Definitely on the more pricier side but this trendy Vietnamese resto on Notre-Dame delivers on food 👌🏽

Vibe: modern, clean and spacious for a small restaurant. Clear windowed - open kitchen so you can see the chef cooks your food. Currently summer so AC is blasting for fresh dining experience. (check out the photos). Food: i only ordered Phở noodle so i can't say for the rest of the menu. Phở has layers of savoury notes which showcase the chef's cooking skill. I can taste the umami of beef bone blends with sweetness of radish and spice undertone. Not on sweet side in case you are thinking of Phở Nguyễn near Guy Concordia. 2 options : small size for tasting and large for devouring. Price: Phở price looks pricy but lotsa meats and noodles so imo just the right price. Staff: nice and attentive, Western ordering and serving system. There are benches for take-out guests and a beeping alarm for when the order is ready. Location: in a very happening neighborhood of St. Henri, right next to bus stop.

It’s pretty good, but I just don’t understand why everything is so expensive. I get having to raise prices due to inflation but 16 bucks for a bahn mi with tax and tip is a bit ridiculous. Also the “imperial roll” on the menu should be changed to two-bite spring rolls, which would more accurately reflect the item. Like I said it’s pretty good, I come here from time to time, but I just can’t justify the prices for what it is.
