Chicha Donburi

I went to this place a few months ago with a good friend of mine on our trip to Montreal. It was a chilly, drizzling day. We were hungry and exhausted after hours of walking and travelling. This restaurant popped up in the front like it had been waiting for us—what could possibly be better to end such a day with than a steaming bowl of udon or lovely golden tonkatsu? For a long moment we just quietly savoured the food, feeling the warmth rising inside our bodies and the surroundings melting into a blissful blur. Somehow I was suddenly hyper aware of how close we had grown to each other, of how much I enjoyed her company without a word exchanged between us, knowing that the feeling was mutual. The evening wasn’t over yet but I already started missing it. Months later, when I finally remembered to make a record of that moment, I can’t help but feel grateful for everything in this restaurant—the food, the warm, bright light, and the window that framed a corner of the drizzling dark blue sky—everything that made such a night possible. It would be such a shame if I ever forgot.

Reviews are spot on. It’s small, popular (got there early, and it filled up quickly) but the service is fast, friendly. The food lived up to the hype. Shout out to Morgan for great service and the chefs for tasty and delicious food. We loved the udon and Tom yum selections! Thank you for a wonderful experience.

A tiny little restaurant, but very cozy and well decorated! We tried two of their donburis and they were both excellent - tender meat, great sauces, and a good amount of rice. Their wintermelon tea latte was also wonderful. And the staff was very kind & attentive! Our server rushed over with new chopsticks the second I dropped one of mine. Highly recommended!

Our go-to place for Taiwanese style fusion rice bowls e.g. citrus chicken, 3 cup Thai basil chicken, yaki don. It is the only Asian place that I know of in Greater Montreal/Laval which offers pan-fried boneless chicken thigh filets skin-on, and it's delicious. Flavorful 3 cup Thai basil chicken.
