Been here, seen it. First of all, the easiest way to reach here, with the cheapest mode of Transit in mind, will be to take the suburban train. BELAPUR to ONGC HELIBASE (with reporting time as 0720 IST) If you are coming from Belapur, take the 0520 morning train to vadala road, and change train at vadala. The next train should be the Goregaon Slow at around 0629. You will reach Ville Parle around 0650. Ville Parle is the easiest Rail Station (walkable distance), next to the heli base. At the main gate, show your ONGC card, security check your baggage and wait for ONGC transit bus that will take you to the Helibase. The helibase is basically a smaller version of the airport checkin, where allotted slots are there for different heli departures. Wait for your turn as announced. Remember, there is a probability of getting dropped, if the number of passengers are more than helicopter capacity. In that case, the next ride will be announced by ONGC to your company. There are enough charging points at the boarding and waiting area. Also, food is available at minimal cost at ONGC Canteen. Maximum BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE is 12 Kg for Indians and 15 Kg for foreign nationals. Remember, SMARTPHONE WITH CAMERA is only allowed till boarding check. You can carry a smartphone if you have requested your mobile maker to REMOVE THE CAMERA, and an accompanying letter to that effect is carried along. LAPTOPS, USB, CAMERA is not allowed for transit. ONGC Helibase- Only authorised people's have entry in this Helibase. It is always very busy Helibase where you can take Choppers for many Mumbai Offshore Rigs! Normally reporting time of this Helibase is at 7am in the morning. If you all are confusing in getting direction and or from which gate to enter just search Nanavati Hospital it is just opposite to it. Inside this helibase there are many informative screens also there is one canteen for everyone where you can have food, buy things needed for offshore also camera phones can submit by depositing 100 Rs at the counter!!
