Let me say this I've lived here my whole entire 46yrs and I've always heard how excellent the food is finally ate here yesterday & NOW I CAN SAY FROM MY OWN MOUTH THE FOOD IS EXCELLENT!! Delicious best mashed potatoes and gravy I've ever had,best fried chicken & Mac cheese even they're Dr pepper is better.Go Go Go if u never been and Go again if u have.

This place is obviously a gem. Happened upon it when I met a 1969 alumni of Fisk University. When asked where she'd recommend we eat, she stated Swetts. Food is served cafeteria style and the food and atmosphere pleased the stomach and the soul. It appears to be a gathering place for elders, though many of all ages came to dine or pick up. There are TONS of pictures of famous people who have visited the restaurant on the wall. This place did not disappoint. The food was fresh and delicious, and the desserts were equally enjoyable. The staff was pleasant. I'll be back when in Nashville.

A comfortable dining area greets you when you enter the restaurant. Nice folks working the cafeteria line. It’s clean and well run. So many delicious choices from the main courses, the scrumptious sides, roll or cornbread pancake, and tempting desserts. Even the choices in drinks available. Great food, great portions and an even greater value. I am so glad I went and I am grateful to the folks who work here for making my stay so pleasant!

I have no complaints except for the fact that they had so many choices that I was overwhelmed. Lol. Everything was AMAZING!! My husband enjoyed his meal too. Very relaxed home style environments. The squash casserole was very good and my husband loved the baked potato casserole. Chocolate cake was so moist. Basically, you can't go wrong here.

I tried this place on my trip to Nashville and this was my most absolute FAVORITE place to eat. I had Liver and Onions, Mac & Cheese, and a Squash casserole with a sweet roll. The roll tasted like a Golden Corrall roll. As of currently, this is my favorite restaurant I've ever tried. Most definitely would go again. This place is also 3 minutes away from Tennessee State University.

The food was amazing so was the atmosphere. My 4 year old is a picky eater and she ate until her heart was content. There wasn’t a line but we also came a little after opening. It’s definitely starting to pick up as the time goes by. I would recommend this place to eat. The meals are 13.75 except the ribs are 21 but it’s great portion sizes and great food! Well worth it
